For the enticement, there's an extremely ample supply of food places (Hooters across the street + Mall a quarter of a mile off), a Meijer a block away, and a good 5+ hotels within walking distance! This is conveniently located off I-65, about 10 minutes off of I-80/I-94.

It would be really kind of cheap for us, because we live about 20 min. from Merriville.
So we might be in attendance~ 83
It's up in the air right now.
Not attending ACen 2012 due to a college final. :(

OH! It's during summer break which is nice and it would make a fun road trip. I might just go! :D Sounds good especially with tons of food around... lol

It's not that far of a drive for me, but I plan on going to GenCon and that's a couple weeks before that and I don't want to have to request a lot of time off at work just for a con that is starting out. This is a big maybe.

I forgot to mention, there's also a rather decent Walgreens, K-Mart, and Joann's about a block off.. and down the street is a hospital if you need to hurry over there!

LOL! I just ran across this convention yesterday - my club is short on finances for ACEN so we're looking for possible alternatives that don't require that we spend a small fortune to make up the cost of hotel rooms and such for ACEN. It seems very well organized and they have four industry guests already and a couple of dj's. The events sound like a lot of fun as well so we're seriously considering going. The hotel looks spiffy as well. <3 It's only an hour and a half from where we all live so that's also a plus...

I love the Raddison Star. . . They have a pool with a huge waterfall. It's awesome. :D

This is apartment-move-in weekend for me, but I don't think that's until Saturday. This is in the exact same area where I go shopping, lololololol. Like 30 minutes from my house. Love it. I'll probably go Friday at least. They have Travis! :highfive:

The main guy is cool as I had a chance to talk with at Anime Milwaukee earlier this year.

Almost a 3 hour drive from my city, so a maybe, but I'm not to fond of driving on long trips...

I know you say there are 5 hotels within walking distance, but honestly the best thing you can do for a first year con is stay in the con hotel. Cons get money based on how many rooms they sell. So you should always stay in the convention designated hotel if possible. It can go a long way to making sure they have a year 2.

My Birthday is that Saturday of the convention, did I mention Travis Willingham will be there and Troy Baker? This is a definite thing I'm going to. Not only does the hotel have a poolside bar, with waterfall but some of its rooms have balconies and sleep number beds. Its got it's own on site Starbucks, Irish Grill, and 2 other restaurants and a video game room. Not to mention a huge theater, there's a candy factory nearby, a beach within like 6 miles, a super-mall, the Indiana sand dunes, places to hike, fish and picnic, Lake Michigan is right there and there's a casino real close as well as many fast food establishments like Olive Garden and Red Lobster, McDonald's, Dairy Queen. It's a really good place to just hang out and vacation and to spend time at the convention. There's going to be a convention scavenger hunt, a catwalk, and some more things that are to be announced. The con days are August 19th-22nd.

If I can get money to afford a hotel room and food and badge and other stuffs, I may well go. I live in Parker City, so it's a good hour or two but not horrible.

Depending where you're at, Coach USA goes that way for fairly cheap. There may also be people who can carpool with you.
