So the Spike Video Game Awards are on tomorrow at 7pm central. I'm kinda actually siked this year cause Neil Patrick Harris is hosting. A bunch of world premiers I actually care about too. Although I always believe the voting is pathetically rigged.

I might flip it on just for fun, I'm usually not a fan of everything that wins,
so it doesn't really matter to me. :/ (And just as a side note, today's the 10th. :P)

Guys, knock it off. We all have made spelling and grammar errors before and if you have never in your entire life, I will refer to you as "robot".

I agree and if Spike's awards from the previous years are any indication, I can likely already name the winner of every category because it seems totally based on hype. I may watch cause of NPH, but watching an entire awards show where I feel like the voting has no actual basis in value, but is entirely based in popularity holds little interest to me.

Anyway, don't really care about awards shows in general, even gaming ones. I don't need my game opinions validated, and just about anything worth seeing on the show will be online sooner or later anyway.

I used to love the VGA's. But now not only is it pathically predicable who will win it's also more about spectacale (like every award show.) Christ i mean last year I think they had Snoop dogg preforming. What the heck does this have to do with video games? *sigh*

They should've named it the Call of Duty Black Ops Awards. Really goes to show that advertising is really what matters.

I couldn't watch it for 5 minutes. That bit where that one comedian guy with the lisp kept going on about how people who play games are stoners was painfully unfunny and there didn't seem to be any energy in the room at all.

Is this any big surprise? Unfortunately all rewards are based on hype and not actual gameplay or innovations. Is Black Ops really that much different than the previous games in the series? By that logic shouldn't Madden win game of the year every year? They release essentially the same game with a few tweaks and it sells off the hook.

Haha, I wish I could play Madden and Black Ops. I have no new consoles.

I agree with you though. Like I said, all awards shows are just people celebrating themselves.

EDIT: If innovation mattered, people would've bought Shenmue I'M JUST SAIYAN.

It was hard to watch.
The jokes were lame and I was embarrassed for every celebrity there.
NPH was alright but did everyone else know, in the slightest, what they were presenting or were they just there for a paycheck/some publicity?
It was pretty much just a big commercial for various games.
These joke awards shows mainly showcase popularity (e.g. Grammys).
Video games still has a long way to be taken seriously in the mainstream.

p.s. SSX: Deadly Descents? Why so serious?

some of the reveals were cool, though a lot were UTTERLY predictable. Elder Scrolls V, SSX, Prototype 2, Guillermo del Toro's project, Mass Effect 3, etc, etc.
