So, I have a jacket for America. It's made of real leather, and looks a lot like his.
Except there is no 50 on the back, airplane on the side, or that weird symbol on the front.
Would my America still be recognizable? This is a really nice jacket that cost me $120. I don't want to ruin it by putting the symbols on it.

As an amateur leather worker and a man with extremely expensive tastes, DON'T RUIN THE LEATHER JACKET! An adhesive will likely totally ruin the surface it touches (a friend put tape on one of mine...it didn't end well, for the jacket or for her).

The only way I can imagine attaching anything to a leather jacket would be to sew it on but there will definitely be holes that may or may not be super visible when you take them out...

If I were you, I'd get a simple jacket matching in color, buy some faux fur and make one yourself instead of potentially ruining a fine jacket

I agree 100% don't ruin good leather.

I had the same problem with my America cosplay last year.
And to be honest, I highly don't suggest this unless you really do NOT have the money to get another jacket. But, I made a 50 the star and the airplane and I didn't actually attach the airplane because I was being lazy and had two days before con. BUT. If you're pressed for time or don't have the money you can make a fifty and tape it on. My jacket does have a bit of damage, but unless you're staring at it, you really don't see it.
^w^
BUT. Like the others, unless necessary, do NOT ruin good leather.
Not attending ACen 2012 due to a college final. :(

Try stores like Target or the mall. Faux leather jackets are coming around again with the weather getting colder. Might have some luck finding one that works for your cosplay :)
