A collector or the opposite? Anime, games, or pretty much anything...

I'm far from being a collector, but I do on occasion buy anime cels (only have 6 with 2 new ones in the mail soon). Just recently I bought a well priced cel from Tenchi Muyo OVA (Mihoshi intro episode where Ryoko is with tenchi while he is unpacking the van, the cel is part of where she swings around/hugs him mid flight). Having a physical item that was part of my favorite anime is really neat.

The other Japanese related thing would be super nintendo and super famicom games, although I have a friend selling a good chunk of ones I don't use much soon. I think my favorite one being Gundam Wing I picked up in Nagasaki in 2006. :) Don't think I'll be picking up anymore unless I see a good deal.

Oh, and I'm thinking about looking through resale/pawn/etc places for old Pentax/Asahi/Takumar camera equipment but that has a lot more functionality to it, so I'll at least tell myself they are tools rather than collectibles.

Mugs and cups. For some strange reason. And I was compelled to buy all four KISS cups from 7-11.

I also have a Tenchi cel, but its a simple one with Mihoshi holding a flower. It's probably from Universe from the looks of it.

Figures are a big one for me. I've got 2 Ikea Detolfs full of figures and even then I've still get some scattered about my DVD and manga shelves + a few in my living room. Manga and anime DVDs are my other huge collections. I'll have to take some updated pictures here in a bit.

Also got quite a few games, but at this point that collection pales in comparison, and it's not even close.

But to answer the question relayed in the thread title, I'm a collector. I just unloaded several games that I'm likely never to play again, and previously I've sold some anime DVDs that were absolutely awful, but by and large I hold onto my stuff.

Neat. Mihoshi was a really interesting character in the first series. Here's hoping a 4th OVA comes out with a focus on the girls. Same here... My first Tenchi cel (Ryoko, from an ACEN dealer in say 2003) isn't one I can recognize which anime it is from... maybe those magic girl Pretty Sammy shows I've never seen.

Yep, I bet a lot of people are anime DVD collectors. ;) Any favorite series?

It's tough saving everything. I remember going over to a neighbor's house and was utterly shocked. The house itself was pretty packed, but the attic and basement were full to the ceilings with starwars action figures and other collectibles.

Oh, I kind of wish I could sometimes. But whenever I've tried, I always end up selling whatever I've collected off because I want the money for something else and don't feel any connection to the items.

I started collecting Digimon figures back when I was a teenager. They're now x10 the price so it's kind of hard to get any of them now. They were hard to get a hold of back then too so I'm glad I have the ones I have. I also have the only Metabee from Medabots that works by voice. Thanks to Suigetsu I'm able to use it.

Oh and I collect porn.

I am always dissappointed by vendor halls becuase of the lack of variety of obscure figurines. Most booths carry the same ones as other booths with varying prices. Mainly i'm on the prowl for anything extremely kawaii (Exmple: generic maid figurines, specifically some maid cafe line thats in their 6 or 7th line currently), Rei and Asuka figurines (specfically Rei <3), Ju hachi kin Figurines (+18 to buy >:3), and others that suddenly grab my interest like the kids of a blue collar man in the checkout line of the grociery store whom happen to see the candy stacked right next to the register. Their mother hates when they see that.

Jeez, a ton. XD I don't really have a top favorite in my collection, but the ones that come to mind are Rozen Maiden (with its sweet velveteen art box), Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, and School Rumble

I have a specific thing I collect: Anything from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
It ranges from gumball dispensed plastic toys to porcelain dolls and fluffy pillows. If it has Beauty and the Beast I most likely own it.

I think it stems from when my mom made me Mrs.Potts from her ceramics class since I loved the movie so much.

I have a whole bunch of DVDs. But for "real" collectibles I usually go with the better quality (and a bit more expensive) figurines, although some are considered "dolls." Biggest problem is that I don't have enough room to set them out (for example my one Sailor Jupiter doll is 19" high). Some capsule figures are pretty nice I have to admit though, and they don't take up all that much space, which is also nice.

One really cool thing I have is the promo binder from the US Sailor Moon series (DIC). It's a 3-ring binder that was used to provide info for any local stations that carried the show. (Series description and some artwork was included.) It's around the house somewhere...

At the fair here, we would usually get these huge thermal mugs that hold like a liter of liquid. I have 5 of those, sad to admit. I also have my Class of '07 stein, a Patriots stein that I can freeze and the gel in the lining gets all cold and what not.

So mostly plastic ones, and in all reality, I probably should part with some of them due to spacial restraints.

I have a small cel collection too. Sae from Maho Tsukai Tai, Birdy from Birdy the Mighty, Sakura from Street fighter, Cardcaptor Sakura, Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi, Cherry from Saber Marionette R, Otaru from Saber marionette J, torso shot of Sailor Mars (which I don't mind selling), and Kiyone from Tenchi.

I collection figures too. Recently many figmas like Haruhi, Lucky Star, and K-On.

I've recently (within the past two years or so) had a growing obsession with figures. My computer desk, which used to house my monitor, printer, speakers, and at most a few notebooks or sketchbooks, has now been completely taken over by Nendoroids, gachapons, Figmas, Revoltechs, Play Arts, Trading Arts, P.O.P.s, and the other random figures that don't really have a category. XD

I wouldn't change it for the world, however, as I love looking at all of my favorite characters, and making the poseable ones sit on the ledges on my desk. X3 I've definitely cut down on my figure collecting, because of financial reasons, and also because I'm running out of room, but I don't think I'll completely stop any time soon, haha.

I collect erasers. I've been collecting them since I was in the second grade. I don't know why, but I just love how erasers can be functional and cute all at the same time. XD

On the anime/manga side, I collect what I like. Sadly, what I like a lot of times I can't afford...yet. =P

Nice collection
I think Saber Marionette is a fun classic series. I was thinking about watching Birdy (OVA + series) eventually as one of my friends is pretty into it. Looks like there are only 4 episodes for the 1996 OVA, so cels are probably pretty rare. Kiyone was my favorite character in Tenchi Universe too. The time and space adventure episode where Kiyone runs away was my favorite part of the show.

Funny you bring that up. When I was a kid I collected pencils! Besides getting a lot of logo ones from school and my aunt and uncle who were teachers, I think those pencil battle games (er.. not sure how to describe it, but each kid would take turns trying to break the other's pencil with their own) were a reason too.

I remember watching Made of Honor and there's a scene showing the inside of the man's living room which had a huge collection of dvds that filled the entire wall. Having a full desk like that makes me want to have that huge collection of movies.

I think everyone collects things that are significant. I mean anyone here has a card collection of whatever or action figures of so&so. I collect suits and ties, guitars, ceramic pieces and movies.
