Done. Didn't even have to wait in line. (According to the radio broadcast I'm listening to now, voter turnout is high.)

Done as well.

About half the races were unopposed.

Actually had a line for once, such as it was. Maybe everybody was voting on the gubenatorial recall amendment...

Probably because there's a lot of politicians who would benefit from braaaaains.

Voter turnout was high. That's good. I must admit that there was a guy running unopposed in my state for State Senator. I don't like that, so I wrote in a candidate. If the news announces that Montana elected Gendo Ikari...you know who to blame.

I actually almost forgot about voting (had to run errands after work). Then around 6:40pm I realized what it was I was forgetting. I rushed to the community center in my pajama pants...only to find out that I went to the wrong place and had to go up the street to the library. Rushed back to my car, BARELY nabbed a parking space at the library, got my ballot marked and put in. Then, just after I walked out of the room (proudly wearing my sticker and pulling out my phone to update Facebook) I heard a woman call from around the corner: "The polls are closed!" Yeah, apparently I finished voting about two minutes before the polls were cut off. My timing is awesome. Couldn't help but laugh a minute later when I saw all the poor late arrivals rushing past me INTO the library, unaware that the polls had already closed.

That would be fine, except...the Republicans just had two Reps elected from the South--both black folks. For the first time since 1876. And Cao in Louisiana was defeated tonight--and he's Vietnamese. And a LOT of white people voted for Obama.

Dividing the parties by color is a mistake. People vote for who they want, and most--at least those with any brains--don't care what color the candidate is. I know I don't. I didn't vote for Obama because he's black--I voted against him because I disliked his platform. I didn't vote for McCain because he's white--I agreed with most of his platform.

Simple as that.

I don't generally care about the color of the party (red/blue/green/paisley/whatever) or the color of the candidate. All I care about is finding someone with sense (and yes, braaainnns). Which is why I'm wishing for a "None of the Above" choice (sometimes I wonder just how bad it would be if *no one* got elected to a position...).

It has been years since I actually voted *for* someone rather than just picking the lesser of the evils.

(first off) But I wasn't saying that they said go vote black/white, I was saying they were trying to get those races to vote for their respective party.

Well I wasn't meaning it literally. Kinda jokingly, however, for the most part, for Obama, there was a huge outcry to get black people to vote (if you want my blunt opinion, they KNEW they wouldn't have cared for what he stood for, just because he was black) and it happened and see there was the hugest turnout for black voters ever. (and look at this election. Only 4% of black voters voted. (No need to make any jokes about that, it makes itself.)

And well the Tea Party, for the most part was trying to appeal to the white undecided, and rally republicans up. (Ironic since alot of tea party back people didn't make it in. lol) But yeah, I wasn't saying, they was saying vote white, just for (and seeing how the majority of republicans are white and older) the white people to go out and vote republican. It's like hey, if the obama supporters can do it, then so can we.

I'm not even going to comment on the difference between the two, it's gonna sound like I'm being racist towards my own race. lol But as I said earlier the with obama votes, I can you can guess what I'm getting at.

It did, I thought it failed? I wanted Prop B to pass and it was behind last time I checked. Glad it did.

And good goodness no, merging the city with the county is a horrid idea. I live in the county, it's basically "hey lets bail out the poorer city" plan. Not good. The county won't benefit from that at all.

My bad, Xeno. I've been hearing too much from pundits that "Oh, the only people who still think Obama is awesome are black" and "Only white people voted Tea Party." They're both wrong, of course, and I misinterpreted what you wrote as being an echo of that. Though I think the Tea Party was not so much trying to rally the undecided whites as they were trying to get people out to vote who agree with them.

Which includes me--I've become a big fan of limited government after four years of being a state employee. The inefficiency is unbelievable. I think we need less government, not more...but that's my opinion.

That was just a rumor. The actual number according to rumors was 4.7%, and the ACTUAL numbers were A: Pretty hard to estimate and B: almost definitely higher. The story behind the 4.7% was some random dude tweeting that about WISCONSIN only, and even that bit of information was incorrect.

Source

Page explaining how source is credible.

A CBS source that puts the estimate at 10% (The lowest I've seen, still much higher than 4%)

In the rural and county area, it didn't pass but in the city, it did.
