The NES was released to the public about twenty five years ago. I was not aware of it at the time. My parents might have given me an Atari 2600 Jr and some bargain bin games, but aside from that, I didn't know about the NES until 1988. It became my main way to experience games for the next four years. Thanks to the NES, I got to discover some timeless 2D action games, and a few excellent puzzle, strategy, and RPG titles.

The PS2 was released in the US about ten years ago. I'd become a fan of the inexpensive, often varied PS1 library, but I held off on buying the PS2 for a while. Overall, I wasn't ecstatic about the PS2, but it had an impressive variety of games. I skipped all the serious military games, and ignored most of the 3D action games. Most of my favorite PS2 titles were not best sellers, but tended to be cute, slow, or niche.

So that's my opinion. Have you realized that some of your favorite games and systems are reaching milestone anniversaries? If so, how did you feel about them back in the day, and how do you feel about them now?

Gotta give the PS2 it's due, the system was WAY ahead of it's time in terms of graphics and potential when it was released, and still holds up fairly well to today's standards IMO.

I just checked Wikipedia's N-Gage article, and realized that it took until *2009* for the "no new games" announcement. I had thought it was dead in 2006.

Aside from that... it's crazy to realize that some of my favorite games have milestone anniversaries. Dragon Quest 8 and We Love Katamari are at the five year mark. And it's been fifteen years since Chrono Trigger.

The Dreamcast is one of those systems that people tend to overlook yet it was way ahead of it's time considering it had Online play and the graphic were really nice for the time as well.

13 years for the Nintendo 64. So many great games on that console. I still have my original one from 1996--still works like a charm. I even bought a emergency N64 in case my (GOD FORDID!!!! *knock on wood) original craps out. I managed to get the Hey You Pikachu one. XD That game wasn't even that fun, either. XD

just over 5 years ago we were given the Xbox 360.

In that span, my family had probably 4 of them red ring. That's almost one a year, the most recent being mine about a month before the launch of Halo: Reach.

Do you have the yellow cartridge? It's pretty sweet. I also have the gold cartridge of Ocarina of time too. ^_^
DK 64 was such a fun game. Long, but that's what made it fun. There was ALWAYS something to do in that game. I HATED getting those stupid banana fairies!!!!! >///< lol.

I have an N64 emulator (But not any ROMS of course, that would be illegal). Mystical Ninja was amazing.

Also, Shenmue, 10 years. T_T

I don't have the game anymore which is lame but wouldn't be hard to pick one up. But yea those Banana Fairies were really freaking annoying.

Mystical Ninja was one of my favorites. :shuriken: I was signing the theme song of the game (the intro game) by heart after two weeks I got the game. I've beat Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon 16 times. Sooooo many great memories with that game. <3
