So last year's Chiral gathering was...well...more of a meeting between three people. Two of them were cosplaying from the Nitro+Chiral games, but they weren't from the same one. It ended with both cosplayers getting their pictures taken and then leaving to recover the wasted time spent while one was very upset she missed a certain event that had gone on at the same time.

Needless to say, it fell flat.

This year, I have some hope that the Togainu anime got people intrested in it-or even the other games-enough to cosplay. So if you plan on doing so, please speak now or forever hold your peace.

So far, the following characters are missing from each game:

Togainu no Chi
None

Lamento-Beyound the Void
The demons

Sweet Pool
None

Day: Friday
Time: 5 - 5:30 pm
Location: Loading Docks Left

I suck at noticing stuff ; ; I didn't see anyone cosplaying from Nitro+Chiral games last year, and another gathering I had to attend was scheduled at the same time as Togainu, argh. I love the visual novel however, I played through the game once, and took Rin's route lol. I haven't played Lamento, or Sweet Pool though xD the plots/character designs never really took my interest ; ;

Yeah, that's probably because the games aren't very popular or even well known. That's why I'm hoping 2011 will be different with the togainu anime coming out.

And yeah, hopefully the anime will encourage more cosplays. I have a few friends who have some Togainu characters on their cosplay-to-do lists, so the series isn't totally unknown xD I'm sure it's one of the more popular games among BL fans though, there's even a group that's translating it atm~

I know it's not completely unknown, but it didn't seem like a lot of Acen-goers knew about it. Only a very small handful of people knew who I was dressed as and only one of them recognized me without prompting.

i couldn't make it to acen 2010, but if i did, i would've totally recognized ur akira !! but im happy to hear that u will be bringing him again for 2011. i'll be looking forward to it !

i personally had planned to go as shiki for .. i believe it was 2009. but it never happened .. due to some reasons (ehem, i mean, excuses.) but mostly because no one, or only very very few people will recognize the character, acen prop rules with katanas, and i didn't have akira with me. :/

Prop rules? Is the katana too long? (Does not know rules very well)

And even if people didn't recognize you, there are still con-goers who will take pictures of people with intresting costumes even if they don't know who the character is. (*cough*Like me!*cough*)And I'm pretty sure Shiki qualifies as that. (Seriously, it's hard to miss someone dressed head-to-toe in black. Unless they're a ninja.)

Yeah...unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) my Akira cosplay wasn't the best; the jacket was too large on me (I looked like I had giant chicken wings!), I didn't style the wig, and the knife was too huge (did not look at references well enough) and began to fall apart near the end of Acen.

Thankfully I'll be working to repolish my costume.

they have the .. live steel rules. i believe any object made out of metal, sharp or blunt, is prohibited. or somewhere along that line. and the one i have falls into that category even tho it's aluminum and obviously blunt. :'(

and that is also true. i too tend to take pics of the characters i have no idea who they are. lol.

now that u mention it, maybe it's not a bad idea to go as shiki .. maybe i will bring him this upcoming year. and this time we kno at least one akira will be at the con for sure. i hope ur costume turns out well, too ! experiencing errors makes everything better the next time. :3

If you make a katana out of some other material it should be fine. There are tutorials for making fake swords and still making them look like metal.

i already have a pretty long list of cosplays that i want to bring to the con, but im sure i can squeeze him in for a part of those 3 days. especially if there's gonna be akira.

BTW, I'm not forcing anyone, but it would be really nice if we could get a variety of characters. So if you have an inclination to cosplay as someone who isn't coming, please consider it.

*sigh* Actually, part of me is tempted to go as Nano instead since there's already someone going as Akira (unless they're going off one of the endings instead of default like I am). But I already have my wig...

You'd have to style your wig pretty hardcore-accurate for Nano, lol, since his clothes seem pretty normal so it's hard to recognize ; ; same with Makoto from Sweet Pool, I wasn't thinking about BL games during the con DD: so I didn't really have the proper mindset to notice you guys, haha :<

Well...I guess that's your opinion; I'm not too crazy about Gunji, but I can still see why he's popular with the ladies.

As for cosplaying Nano...I thought about it and decided not to. I don't want to splurge on hair dye just to cosplay someone and then have to dye it back to its original color afterwards. Plus, it's not a cosplay I wanna do.

So I'll still be going as Akira. But if the other person cosplaying as him is also doing default...well, then I got a back-up plan to keep a variety...

Aww, but there's no problem with multiple people cosplaying one character ;P Knowing there are other people cosplaying the same char just makes me work harder on mine so that I don't look bad compared to them, lol xP But I would love to see Alt. Outfit Akira. I really like his military outfit in Nazi-Overlord Shiki-ending xD

Hair dye is cheap right? :D about $10 a box for natural colors.

And that does make sense...But if push comes to shove, I'll pull out Plan B. And someday I'd like to cosplay from that one PS2 ending where he's wearing similar clothing to Shiki. (The "rivals" ending)

I know it's cheap, but I don't wanna throw away money on a cosplay I'm doing only for the sake of bringing a variety of characters, since I don't like the idea of cosplaying as Nano. Plus, after taking another look at a picture, I realized I'd have to cut my hair to a length I'm not willing to go. While I can regrow it, my high school graduation is a week from Acen so I don't want to have hair that short for it.

Yeah, definitely go with the character you'd actually like to cosplay haha...It would suck to spend any money or time working on something you really didn't care for >< lolz


And I'm sure some more cosplayers will pop up! Least I really hope they do, especially with the anime emerging and all that jazz~ :3
