I think what Keiichi was trying to say was this: the stereotype is that some creepy guy will go to an anime convention (Or any other kind of convention that might involve people in costume). He will then hang out, say, near the stairs (or the elevator, in the case of the Hyatt at our con..)or a stage and wait for the prime opportunity to take pantie shots. Because everyone has their cameras out for taking pictures of cosplays, nobody will think anything of it, so he'll be able to get away with it. (For a reference to this, see Genshiken)

On the other hand, a guy who does this in the general public is a lot more likely to be caught, because he doesn't have the same camouflage. Therefore, one would expect that they would be smart enough not to do it someplace out side of a convention.

true, in fact when i was in middle school, my parents watched 20/20 a lot, and they talked about this once. They talked about how a cell phone or pen on the street could be a wireless camera sending feed some place or how there maybe cameras in stall walls and such.

Many people who didn't have the money for this, did the "walk behind a girl with the "newpaper" low", or the "oops i dropped my phone in the middle of a busy new york/chicago sidewalk". They normally got arrested after awhile.

I think they said do to laws being enforced (i guess it wasn't disputed at first if the face wasn't shown, but then one women identified herself, i don't remember how, and sued), one company actually made a house with cameras in it, and pay women to spend the day there, and tell them what will happen.

they said it was some kinda fetish, but i forgot the name.

Huh I don't get the latter. It's like saying you are most likely to be robbed at night than the day time. IMO if someone wants to do something they do it period. It mostly depends on luck and statistics, which is why some people never get robbed even with their heads in the clouds and others always do and they are prepared with mace, etc. Although most people get stalked/robbed/etc. more times in congested areas like stores and conventions and tourist spots.

audaciouska241: Still sorry about someone doing that; nobody should go through that. I haven't been stalked per say but been robbed and watched before though :/

Kinda have this fear that if I talk normally in real life I might be stalked by guys due to my personality, honesty, and perverted nature which would explain my shyness.

Creepers ALWAYS carry cellphones with cameras and wear black trench coats. That way they can upload the photos online before the cops confiscate their equipment. For that matter, anyone carrying a visual recording device is suspect.

Most girls are; especially HETALIA fans.

Girls as creepers=hot most of the time

guys as creepers=not hot most of the time. From this thread I guess.

I'll disagree. The creeper I had mention a while ago was defintely not hot. Defintely.

Sides "hot" guys don't really need to creep to get what they want. especially at an anime con. lol

Wow, this thread is getting funnier.

Keiichi-chan..... I don't think your posting was understood. ^_^

lol, yeah, i guess not.

i didn't mean that perverts are only at conventions, i meant that i'm surprised there are CAMERA-CARRYING perverts who are willing to forcefully take pictures of women to 'use later' in public places. it seems like perverts get to fall back on the excuse of 'i like your cosplay/costume' at cons, but you don't really have that excuse if you're doing it in a kmart or whatever.

but i guess i have an overly optimistic view of people. i'm still shocked and in disbelief that creeps at acen will come right up and request pictures while making creepy request like 'could you lift your skirt just a little more?' or 'could you poke out your chest a little? i'm a breast man.' or whatever. it takes me a little while to realize they're sincere and not joking around.

Quote

Although most people get stalked/robbed/etc. more times in congested areas like stores and conventions and tourist spots.

this isn't true. and i think people are more likely to commit a crime if they think they can get away with it; that's what i was getting at.

Quote

if you girls think you're cute, it's less likely they're going to find anything you do creepy, i think..unless it's like, TEXTBOOK trying to peek at her friends in the shower, taking pictures of upskirts around the con or whatever.

I've had probs with creepers in the past, blowin' me up and making me drop everything in my inventory, etc., but I find that a good solution is to try and bop creepers with a melee weapon, retreat, and bop again before they can detonate. Also bring plenty of torches when exploring caves and tunnels.

I haven't had an actual stalker, although an ex-friend of mine once e-stalked me (she would follow me into chat rooms on AOL, and when I wasn't online she'd go into the chat rooms I visited and ask people questions about me or make things up about me.) I've had a few rather creepy guys ask me for a hug at conventions when I was cosplaying but the closest I've had was when this weird guy followed me off the bus and walked across the street from me while watching me walk home; he followed me through a fast food place (I went in one door, stood inside for a minute and then went out the opposite side of the building to try to trick the guy who was across the street) and didn't go away until I went in my house.
I do have a stalker story that's not about me directly though. A friend and I helped out these girls who were being followed at Acen 2 years ago... I don't know if I have the details right since it was a while ago, but I think it started when we went into the bathroom at the Hyatt and these girls were standing inside and asked us if there was a guy hanging around outside. They said this guy was following them around so they ducked into the bathroom to get away from him, but apparently he was lurking around outside so they has been sitting in there for a while. We looked and didn't see him, but they were scared and asked if we would walk out with them to be sure. We did, and it turned out the guy was still there and he started following all of us. They didn't know what to do so we decided to go up to our hotel room because I knew my friend's mom was in there. The guy actually followed us up there and then almost walking right into the hotel room with us. We said something and closed the door on him. We hung around there a while to make sure he was gone (IIRC he actually lurked in the hallway for a while too), and my friend's mom told them to go to security if they saw the guy again.

Totally disagree with you there. Creepers are creepers. If a guys is a sexy creeper, they are still going to come off as creepy and make you feel uncomfortable. Not everyone has that "Well I'm sexy so I don't need you." Mentality. The fact is ANYONE can be a creeper no matter if they are sexy or not. And girls are creepy, trust me. I mean I will joke around and say I'm creepy (Mostly because I'm fangirling about how someone looks like a certain character or is hot XD), but for real, there some girls who just WANT you to the max, and will do anything in there power to get whatever they want.

BUT I would have to say that men are mostly creepy because of there anatomy... but I won't go into detail. The fact is, a man is going to be more creepy then a woman simply because of their hight, their weight and the fact that they can over power most girls. JUST SAY'N

Now as far as stories, lol I just got one from last year when this ***hole was totally looking up me and my friends skirt an it was beginning to piss me off. He also was saying very inappropriate things toward me and my friend and it made both of us uncomfortable and one of us angry. Eventually the line started moving and we didn't have to deal with the problem anymore, but I was so close to decking this guy.

I've read posts on this forum where the creeper was after such-and such person and the cool smexy *insert favorite character in cosplayer form* swooped in and "rescued" them. The thing is... this other guy probably had the same intentions as the creeper. It's just human nature.

As far as "sexy" guys being creepers, all I have to say is this: I know it's a fictional book, but go read "Speak." It's relevant on so many levels.

You missed my point...lol

I was saying that they don't NEED to creep. Not saying that a hot guy can't be a creeper. lol

And seriously tho, even if it is a joke, the way some females "creep" dudes they find hot is actually kinda creepy for real. I've seen it quite a lot.

o.O That's...another can of worms and it's actually a kind of paraphilia. Btw I seen Swim Fan.

I do know a lot of people stalk others online and online stalking/bulling is becoming an issue, especially with multi online games. I had this issue a few times on Gunbound where guys who were from South America wouldn't stop pming me and bugging me. Like if you are female or a fake female you usually get this reaction than the other way around.

Gwaaaah... =_= This was my experience during my entire time playing Mabinogi... My mistake for picking the deserted server... Almost every male player I met proposed an in-game marriage to me.. Lighting fire-works in the sky with my player name, shouting their love across the servers using those stupid mega-phones... I'm not sure if it was creepy or simply juvenile but it was the primary reason I stopped playing.. xD Got sick of them showing up where ever I went, and the constant pms on dungeon runs.. =.= Of course... As someone who has been stalked before, I prefer online stalking BY FAR. There's a level of safety you feel with it.. Pleasant, almost, knowing that they're simply behind a screen.. as opposed to sitting outside your house... blasting screamo.. and waiting.. waiting... *Eye twitches*

LMAO. You see, your problem there may have been the fact that you weren't on Tarlach...>_>

Seriously, though, I used to get that all the time; random guys would walk up to me and be like..."You're hot," "you're sexy," and I'd be sitting there thinking "...I'm a 50 year old fat guy sitting in his mother's basement wearing nothing but his underwear, for all you know." Then I just started pretending to be AFK and that helped. In retrospect, the fact that the guild I was in at the time was called "Seduction" probably didn't help matters...v.v;;; Because it hasn't happened in a while and I'm in a different guild now...

I did have one stalking incident on Mabinogi, though...Like, in the first guild I was in, I got sick of my guild leader bossing me around for no good reason (i.e: "Hey Shizu, come help us with Dugald Castle/ killing kobalds/ Alby Arena?" Me: "I'm in Emain right now, but sure." *as soon as I get there* "Never mind, we don't need you" Me: -.-#), so when I was invited to a different guild, I jumped on it. Me being the decent person that I am, I contacted my guild leader to tell her I was leaving, and she totally flipped out. Started telling me I didn't know what it was like to be her age (she was 10, I was 18. wtf) and stuff like that. Afterwords, she kept harassing me whenever she saw me, and then begging for forgiveness and then, like...asking me why I hated her (while playing on one of her pets and acting like she didn't know that I knew it was her). It was really more annoying than anything else, but...yeah.

I hate bratty kids like that... @____@ Mabinogi has a good amount... I probably would've switched channels upon every instance I ran into her.. Hoping she caught the message... To be honest, that's kind of my method of avoiding anyone I have a problem with.. Now that I think about it, it leads them to contact you even more... How troublesome.. Dx

(And..on a side note.. Hehe, No! The guild name did not help! Though, I was in a guild called "Lolicons"..if anything, it should've served to scare little kids away, right?.. xD)

ACen 2011: Cosplays have been determined-ish!!!!

Iris - Pokemon Black/White ::: 75%
Female Wario ::: 10%

Lmao. Well, if you ever decide to rejoin and start fresh, or whatever, you should totally switch to Tarlach. We're loads of fun. I know a lot of the not-bratty kids d(^.^)b

I've read posts on this forum where the creeper was after such-and such person and the cool smexy *insert favorite character in cosplayer form* swooped in and "rescued" them. The thing is... this other guy probably had the same intentions as the creeper. It's just human nature.

You could be right, it could be the same thing a guy does when they council a girl after a bad break up, and takes the rebound.
