SO! Halo Reach. I didn't get it yet, college has left me poor...and the Internet at my college isn't the fastest for Xbox LIVE. Is Reach any good? Any likes, dislikes, concerns, or absolute hates to it? I personally did not care for the story line in ODST, so I was "ehhhh" on getting Reach. I heard the BR is gone, kinda concerned about that. Yay or Nay for Reach? IDK if I should spend more money to renew my gold and spend MORE money for the game....

Take it from me. Get it.

I originally was not impressed by the Beta, but once I had the finished product I bought it and took it home. It's probably one of the best looking games for the 360 right now and possibly the best Halo game to date. The campaign is one of my favorite campaigns in an FPS right now and multiplayer, even with it's faults (I never ever want to see Big Team Snipers on Boneyard ever again) is still a blast, and Forge is far better in this game than it was in Halo 3. Many classic maps have been recreated in Forge World, including Blood Gulch, Ascension, and Lockout, and offers numerous areas with which to build things.

Again, my favorite part is the soundtrack, which sets the mood for the desperation of Noble Team as they fight the Covenant. O'Donnell and Salvatore shine again in this time out, and even though ODST was mostly disappointing, the OST was amazing. Plus it feels like an actual game because you don't waste time fighting the Flood, probably one of the most unenjoyable moments from previous Halo games (Seriously, play any mission from 1, 2, or 3 with the Flood and not feel bored out of your skull.)

Again if you really are not certain, find a friend who has it, do split screen or borrow it, then base your descision off that.

And about the Battle Rifle: It has been replaced by the Designated Marksman Rifle, which is semi-auto with an expanding reticle. You get more accurate shots and takes about 1/3 of a clip to kill someone if you do it right and not just spam the trigger.

Agreed. Not fighting the flood feels more like the war it should have been in all three games. Halo 3 actually made me hate the series but ODST and Reach Have brought back my love for it. The only small complaints I have with it are unless you play a team match or Elite Slayer you can't play as a Elite online. I always used to play as a elite so I'm a little disappointed with that. And if this is supposed to be a sequel why is it that they have the newer weapons that showed up in 3 and ODST? Kinda odd. And of course the melee from the back is still a little off. If you don't hit the directionally in the back you can't do the assassination.

All in all if you like halo to any extent you will love Reach.

- The campaign takes around 8 - 9 hours on normal for most people. As I buy Halo for the campaign, it was a decent amount of time. Now the story of the campaign... I have a few issues with it.

- The sound track is better than ODST's for sure.

- I actually think the DMR is pretty decent.

- I don't really agree with the flood comment. Halo CE in co-op with flood is fun (legendary). :happydance: Haven't played 2 or 3 in a while though.

- Forge is like playing legos with a side of physics. It's quite fun as I've already built a big mongoose ramp that can get me across that lake with the help of a jet pack toward the end.

- I'm glad they didn't have dual wielding in Reach.

- I'm not too glad they added gimmick stuff like those 4 abilities and the pointless assassination animation.

- I was expecting the last few missions to be much much more epic than they were.

Its Halo. If you like Halo, you'll enjoy this game. If you don't, you probably won't. Thats probably why there really isn't a thread for this because I think most people probably already know how they feel about Halo.

If you do decide to renew for gold, I saw a deal the other day offering a year for $29.99 plus you get a free helmet from Reach.

The AI cheats. It hardcore cheats.

But that was legendary so I don't know how the AI is on the lower settings.

Space combat was awesome.

This. As soon as COD grows up and gets rid of this I'll be happy, although ODST didn't have dual wielding either.

Theres 7 abilities, although you can argue theres only 4 useful ones. Armor Lock doesn't do much when you're by yourself, Camo doesn't work too well, and Evade is really only available to Elites and you can only play as them in Invasion/Elite gametypes. If you play Slayer almost exclusively you never really see it.

The ablities are useful I think in team settings were you have people using all the different abilites. But when everyone just uses the stupid healing sheild things it's pretty sucky.

Intresting to hear all the reviews. I think I'm going to wait on it. IDK, there's other stuff I want to do now. There's a person down the hall that has it, lol. I'll just play it there. What's the new assassination animation? How does that go on during online play? Wouldn't that cause like lag or something?

Well hearing that the flood aren't in it kinda makes me want to get it. Is the Matchmaking actually improved and if it's not would you say it was closer to Halo 2 or Halo 3. Halo 2 being more fast paced and Halo 3 being more slow paced.

The matchmaking is different depending on what game you play. Infection rounds and Headhunter rounds go pretty quick while oddball or rally take a little longer.

I'm 10 Gamerscore away from 1000/1000'ing this game. Of course that means I need to get to Lt. Col. and that's going to take a while. Then we'll see if Medal of Honor or Call of Duty takes this games place.

Also dual wielding is lame.

Two Pistols in this game wouldnt work or make scence becasue it would detroy anything in its path and you cant zoom on two pistols and the flood werent realy enemys there were a way to extend the the game. its better without it and woudlnt make scence in the story.and i bout the legendary adition alsso its awsome when people get confuse and ask wht my head is on fire.

Hated, hated the flood.

Dual wielding is still a legit concept in FPS's. It was balanced or at least there's still so many ways devs could balance them out more so.
Good: Double firepower, more ammo, mix and match. Bad: One gun was weak, no zoom, can't use grenade (unless you ditch one gun).

There really wasn't a point to dual-wielding anything. There was no dual-wielding combination that gave you an advantage over any single weapon.

They should have left in dual-wielding as long as it's more balanced, not overpowering, and not useless.

Then don't make it too overpowering.
Dev's can reduce accuracy, reduce move speed/aim speed, etc...
Anything can be balanced.
In game design (not just Halo, any FPS), working in the details, anything is possible.
When multilayer games are unbalanced, devs sometimes just don't bother to patch things.

I know we are getting a little off topic but anyway, Duel wielding has the pros and cons. So far I haven't found anyone in current FPS running around completely destroying everything and winning every game. Mostly cuz they can get sniped by someone with any kind of scope. Mostly noobs or cheaters like to camp, boost, or find other ways to cheat. Not working hard and finding a actual tactic that works.
