I'm surprised the usual people haven't made a thread yet.

In the past, we've had two Metal Gear shoots during the con. Don't know if you want to do that again, but I'll be in MGS costumes all weekend this year, so I'd have no trouble showing up. I missed 2010 and am looking forward to 2011.

Saturday is Armed Forces Day, and I'm thinking it might be nice to do a "Metal Gear cosplayers salute the Armed Forces," thing. I can probably procure the flags for the different branches of the military. I wonder if maybe we should do a donation for Operation Homefront or something too. Hmmm...

Anyway, who will you be cosplaying? When do you want to do the shoots? Would anyone be interested in going down to Joliet for paintball on Sunday?


My costumes for A-Cen 2011 (not sure yet which order to wear them): Dr. Strangelove, The Boss (BDUs), The Boss (sneaking suit), The Boss (WW2 victory parade), Otacon

Time: 5:30 - 6 pm

I totally have a MGS 2 Raiden costume in the works currently, but I'm not sure if I'll be taking it up there D: I have to fly up from Texas and I'm always really wary about taking delicate costumes on planes O_O But if I do, I'll definitely be in for the shoot, and I think a salute for the armed forces would be a great idea. I've got a brother and a best friend in the military

I think I'm going to try it I'll just have to make sure the delicate pieces are in my carry on. My friend suggested I just wear the skull suit onto the plane XD

I have a bunch of friends and family up in Chicagoland so A'Cen is like my annual vacation

I'm hoping to have an all-Snake Eater thing afterward since 3 out of 5 of my costumes are The Boss. I'm a sad muffin like that. Last year's showing was so weak from the pictures. We must have MORE MGS cosplayers this year!

I've got to decide what's going to be the best of my costumes for a shoot or shoots. I'm thinking sneaking suit for one.

Oh, yes! That's my husband Mikhail, and he'll be coming with me. He makes a great The Sorrow if I do say so myself.

At Naka-Kon, we're doing another MGS gathering this year, and six of us are doing the Cobra Unit from The Cobra Days. It's too much to ask everyone to do the Snake Eater versions, but I'm happy to have a Cobra Unit of ANY sort at this point.

I hope they aren't going to try to do staff-organized gatherings. They won't like us much. Heheh. I've never seen one organized by staff.


I'd like to keep it outside at the loading docks as usual. That gives us some space and a worn-down industrial-type area for pictures. If anyone wants to start requesting specific shots, I'll keep a list with me in one of my multitude of pouches (unless I'm in the sneaking suit ^.~) to reference during the shoot.

Dude, that's what they did last year and it kinda sucked. If you wanted to get a spot reserved for your gathering you had to submit a request for with a desired time/place, but some of the gatherings that weren't the WTFHUGE ones just kind of got shoved into whatever was open =\ So, they had good intentions, but it was kind of lame. Anywho, they've deleted the thread for submitting requests, so I assume they're not doing it.

The loading docks sound perfect : O Does anyone have a preference for a day and/or time?

I don't really have a preference as in place bc I've never been to ACEN before...so I'm going to be lost anyway when i try to attend these gatherings..;

As for a time, idk really. I myself am planning on being in the masquerade so i suggest not during that time...but that's just me and if we happen to schedule around that time well i guess I'm sol.

Otherwise I'm opened to any time!

@Kankokujin - Probably not. Some aren't very good.

@Adnarim & Arakhne - I wouldn't mind doing more than one shoot. I'm bringing six MGS cosplays with me, so all I need to know is when would be a good time for you all to shoot and which outfits you'd like to see at a shoot. I think maybe an early afternoon shoot on Saturday is in order. How about 2:00?

Anyone have a preference on what they'd like me to wear to the main shoot? I'm thinking the sneaking suit. If we do a second shoot, probably either WWII Boss or Strangelove. I'll wear the costumes during the weekend regardless, but I'm asking about what you'd like to have there during the shoot. Since the shoot is outside, I'll bring the Patriot with the sneaking suit. I'll probably have to run to my car to get it, but I'll bring it with me.

If we're doing something at the loading dock, that's outdoors, so we're going to want to do it during the day while the sun's out. There are street lights over there at night, but the pictures with those don't turn out too great D: The masquerade is usually sometime between the 7ish pm to 10ish pm area on Saturday night, so I think if we do 2pm on Saturday, like supergeekgirl said, we'll be good on both fronts ^^

I would super love to see your sneaking suit in person, supergeekgirl! : O MGS2 Raiden likely wouldn't have any reason to be in pictures with The Boss, but I'd still really like to see it XD

Also, on another note, I have a photographer friend who's an MGS fan that might tag along to the shoot, so she may grab some of you for some pictures : D And if we run out of ideas, she's really good at inventing some

One Friday and one Saturday? If we do Friday, I'd like to keep it around 4-5-ish so that I have time to get to Chicago.
