I think Anime Central should host some sort of Maid Cafe! It would be very popular and in my opinion, fun and neat. :)
Could you have one? Does a Maid Cafe count as a panel?

I SUPPORT THIS. Wasn't there a Maid Cafe at Youmacon? And a whole bunch of voice actors were doing signings there.

It would be hard because of the food agreement. What we would need is to buy the food from the Hyatt, and then charge people to go, I believe.

Seems doable though, and I would be all over this.

It has been requested at one of the planning meetings (by me, in fact.) There are a lot of logistics to work out about something like that, which will be requiring much discussion, planning and negotiation.

Nothing can be guaranteed at this time, but I can officially say that the convention is aware that a Maid Cafe is desired, and we are working on making it a possibility.
The Special Needs & ADA Compliance Department is dedicated to making sure that nobody has to miss anything that ACen has to offer because of a physical challenge or medical condition.

I'm all for the maid cafe! I'll even be a maid. I'm doing this at Youma too. :3 It'll be a first-time experience and I'm really excited about it. :heart:

I'd sign up to be a maid too! I'm trying to be able to do it for Youmacon, and if I didn't make it, it would be awesome if I could for Acen!

I got accepted as a maid for youmacon, so I'll ask what kind of agreement they have with the hotel. I can't repeat the ideas used for the cafe though, because the owner rightfully wants their brain-child to not be copied everywhere else. However, it should give me a good idea of what to expect for an Acen cafe.

It's like a mini-cafe, that usually sells drinks like tea, hot coco and coffee, and desserts, but you are served by maids and butlers. After serving you, they can play little games with you like cards or board games while you eat your treats.

That's the big obstacle I'm trying to get us around. I just have to get the right people to sit down and discuss it.

I was at Youmacon's maid cafe last year and I absolutely loved it :thumbup: . I agree that Acen, for the first time, should have one.

Has there been any talk about this? I had SOOO much fun doing Youma's maid cafe, and I feel that if they've been able to make a deal with the Hyatt, there may be a chance for us as well!

There are contract issues that need to be dealt with. We'd be pigeonholed into using their foodservices dept, which would cost us a whole lot of extra money, which in turn would end up costing all of you a whole lot of extra money. That's not what we're aiming for.

We know you want it, we do too. Trust me, as soon as we'll be able to make this happen, there will be maids.

Awesome! I think that Youma used the hotel's food as well, but tickets only ended up being like 10$ per person....

Hmm, I had no idea what this was, but this sounds pretty interesting. Shame it seems so hard to get it up and going, but if it does, I'd defintely try to swing by.

I'm not really too familiar of the facilities Youma uses, so I have nothing to compare them with. These are hotels that make most of their revenue from convention traffic, in a suburb that lives almost exclusively on the convention and travel lodging business. Everything has a price, and every little bit more ends up costing more. That's just how business works.

It could be worse, With the price tags on everything getting bigger every year, we could be losing out on a lot more than just a Maid Cafe.
