i guess i'm ashamed that i've checked out every single title on this list at one time or another. now, my curiosity is starting to supersede my embarrassment. the only one i haven't read is 'kimi no todoko'. is it any good? how many manga from this list do you guys read or have heard of or tried?

funny none of my manga are on that list and I have over 50 titles at home. Most of those I think I will probably not pick up. I prefer a lot of the older stuff and there is minimal new stuff that has my interest and none of those are on the list. Here is just what is sitting on my desk at the moment. If anyone is actually curious enough and wants the full list of what I have in my home, beyond the desk volumes, they can message me as I do not want to use too much space in the post.
1. Sailor Moon
2. Codename Sailor V.
3. Miracle Girls
4. Bride of Deimos
5. Prince of Tennis
6. Return to Labyrinth

10.Kingdom Hearts

Wow that's crazy to see Hunter X Hunter at least somewhere on that list. And I really need to get into One Piece seems to be making a huge name for itself. I thought Naruto was the biggest Shonen Jump Manga but apparently One Piece is.

You should totally try Nodame Cantabile. It's great! If you like music, comedy, and romance, it's something that's more down to earth about it at least. ;w;

Other than that, this post totally reminded me I need to somehow find a place to buy the Nodame manga OTL

Wooot! HunterXHunter Love!

It kind of makes sense though that most of the top series are Shounen though. Not much of a surprise there.

I've seen the anime for Fullmetal Alchemist (all of the first series) and Naruto (the first 100 episodes or so), plus an episode of One Piece, but have not read the manga. In my experience, longer manga are rather inconsistent -- some stories are good, and others are not. But you'll be happy to know, Keiichi-chan, that I think Ah! My Goddess is one of the few manga that bucks that trend, since I can honestly say that I've felt that it is overwhelmingly, consistently good from what I've read (1-23, since that's as far as my local library goes before skipping a couple volumes and then resuming). I'm also interested in the older stuff, since Maison Ikkoku and Battle Angel Alita (original series) are still next on my list to buy and read).
