Winner! How are you doing yours? I really want to have mine in two parts, so that I can open up the outside bit like a jacket and have the inside of the TARDIS, well, on the inside, as a second dress-thing...but I dunno if I'll have time for that...haha

This year mine's just a blue dress. But it has a black collar that has 'Police Public Call Box' on it, and I'm going to see if I can work with electrics and maybe have my hat blink. 83 And I'm hoping to get red converse for the shoes.

More Mundane Boring Stuff~ 8D

NOW. Due to scheduling conflicts between myself and other people, the Doctor Who photoshoot will have to be in the morning. I scheduled it from 10-11.
This is mainly due to the fact that there's a chance I'm running a large-scale panel.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but it had to be done. NOW.
If you would like to make another photoshoot in the evening about 7-ish, I can do that. I just need to have my evening open for a little while.
I apologize, and I WILL make amends by attending/running another photoshoot.

Well I probably will not get to come to the photoshoot if it's Saturday morning. I'm typically staffing at that time, which is why last year I planned the photoshoots for Friday & Saturday evening (Sat evening is easiest since my department only has one location open instead of two, once Registration closes for the evening).

I'll probably be in Doctor Who cosplay most of the weekend again, and I can run an evening shoot for those of us that can't do the morning. :)

Just...conflicts suck and I kind of want to be with my friends a LITTLE while outside of photoshoots.

I'm sorry. BUT. I actually just changed it - due to the realization of scheduling and panels and talking it over with a friend of mine - that the photoshoot is now going to be (same location, same day) but at 4:45-6:00. 83

Maybe it'd be best to ask you guys...

My budget for cosplay this year isn't as big as I was hoping it was going to be, so now I'm considering going as Rose Tyler as a cheaper option. My only problem is that I'm not going to have a Doctor running around with me and I would hate for people to not realize who I was. So I guess my question is, what do you guys think would be the most recognizable Rose costume that i could do? I'll be going to C2E2 as well as ACEN this year.

I was considering blue jacket with giant gun?
Rose Tyler possible cosplay

Please let me know what you guys think.

Nah, you didn't. This thread comes and goes. xD
BUT. I think as long as you have the gun and look good.
The fans'll know who you are. 83

Looking good is a given. B) I'd just hate to put forth the effort to end up being "girl in blue jacket".

Also, C2E2 is having a masquerade contest, I've always wanted to do one, but I've never had a group. I've also never been to a masquerade and don't really know what it's like. I've watched videos and figured out it's just people doing skits, but I'm not creative in that aspect. If people would want to do a Doctor Who one, I'd be happy to join. Just throwing it out there, I'm assuming most people are from the Chicago area anyways.

If I didnt have a companion already for Matt Smith I would have brought my Tennent Costume. Then again I guess I could bring both, never hurts to regenerate at a con, lol. And I had an idea about the Tardis Dress. not being a woman it is unlikely that I will use the idea so here it is. You guys wanted a dress with and opening door to shoe the tardis insides correct? Then use a light weight white fabric for the inner dress, once made take it to an embroidery place and have them do a fabric print. This way you can use an actual pic of the tardis interior. Not sure on its cost but its an idear :P

You'd probably want the picture printed on the fabric before you sewed it together though. If you printed it after the dress was made, there might be a border around where the picture gets printed. It'd be hard to print something on fabric right up to the edges, there's a chance of it not looking as nice. I would get the picture printed an inch or two bigger than what you'd actually see on the dress. Then sew it up, and that way the edges will meet with the seam and not look like it was just slapped on. I'd have it printed on a white, sturdy woven fabric.

Yay! I'll have another TARDIS to steal! WIN.

I will be a very happy angel indeed...

I still haven't gone out and gotten my dress, I ended up getting super sick over break and couldn't make myself work. So... this weekend. I swear. >_>

Any ideas on how I should go about painting it? I have a few ideas, but I'd love to hear more and see any other suggestions.

I would just do a test on a piece of fairly large fabric, that way you can see how it looks when it drapes.

This one's pretty awesome, it said she used foamboard for the wings, if that helps you any too. *shrug*

There is a "stone" spray paint that you can get at craft stores, its a bit pricey but it will give you the correct look. And to get the hanging right for the dress you almost need to put it on a manikin or wear it while someone sprays it so it dries hanging right.

Any tips on how to make that big gun that Rose Tyler carries around? I've never made props before...

Rose Tyler's big mo fo gun

This is the one. I really don't know how to start on this, what materials would be best, etc. I want it to look professional and it needs to be somewhat light, since I'll be carrying it around all day.

I think if you modify a Nerf gun this may work, or use parts from two or three nerf guns to form the shape you want. Ill look into it more and let you know what i find.

*squee* I went and had a haircut today and talked to my hairstylist about dying my hair blonde for Rose. I got my appointment booked to have it done before C2E2, and a follow up appointment in May for ACen. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Bad news: I sort of overspent on some of my other cosplays so I don't think I'll be able to do femme four afterall, maybe next year though. Regardless, I'll definitely be at this meetup so see all of you fantastic Whovians!

Aww, boo. I'm in the same boat though. I was going to go as Saeko from HOTD to ACen this year, but I have too much money already invested in Rose along with just paying for the convention itself. I like to do 2 new costumes every year (one for C2e2, one for acen) but it's not happening this year.

So i am BADLY trying to talk my fiance in to doing a doctor cosplay. Probably #11. #4 is is FAV but he doesn't have curly hair and wont commit to a wig. XD So yes, bow tie and Fez! This will be his first year cosplaying and I am realy trying to get him more in to it like me. So lets tap in to our biggest fandom!

I apologize I must have skimmed over it but I caught the time for the photoshoot just not the date. Could somebody be able to please fill me in on the correct day and exact time just to be sure? THANKS!
What if the hokey-pokey is what it is all about?
