FFVII remake!Is this actually ever going to happen? Its like a video game powerhouse that would make SQEX tons of cash, probably breaking tons of game records,doesnt make sense not to do it! Ideas? Info?

We need a general ban on Final Fantasy 7 threads on this board I think. Not because of hatred toward 7, because of the pointless debating any thread on it brings.

but still partially because of the hate it generates, which also in reply to will there be a remake, the last i heard was when they are done with the FF series and the KH series is when they might, might, remake it

only nostalgia-whores care about final fantasy VII and people who reaaaaally like steampunk. most new rpg players think it's crap--and rightly so. kingdom hearts is a much bigger cash cow right now from what i've seen.

The latter being a far worse game *cough cough* New gamers by and large are outright biased against older games. (*Note* This is not a new revelation. I don't think I could go back and play the "classics" like text-based RPGs or anything pre-NES either.) Yeah they won't have the nostalgia factor for FFVII, but they also will have to get through the 8 and 16-bit barriers that would prevent them from playing even older FF games, Chrono Trigger, the old Dragon Quest / Warrior games, so forth.

This topic has been talked about in the rumour mill for many years, read: when the PlayStation 2 was released in the 'states, people began talking about it, and they haven't stopped. So far, it's been nothing but just that, a rumour.

That still doesn't give some people the right to bash this thread into the ground. Yes, I may not be a moderator, but it's still not right, as everyone is entitled to their opinions. Someone is excited about the slim possibility. Please accept that and simply steer away from the thread.

Looking forward to a FF6 remake more. (and FF5, which they'll likely remake before 6) With how slow the remake process is coming along, FF6 may be a 3DS game... which could be even more awesome. Imagine, Kefka laughing... IN 3D.

My post was in no way an attempt to bash FF7. Hell I've always taken the stance that its good. I even made it a point to add that in no way was it out of hatred. So I'm not really sure why that was directed at me.

As to the original point, yes it will be remade when Square needs money. Thats what they've done with all their old classics. Hey look we need a quick, cheap hit. Lets release a new version of FF4, need another one, here comes Crono Trigger. Don't expect it until next gen of consoles though.

I'd so love an FF6 remake. I think out of all of the games it felt the most robust to me with a huge selection of characters, summons, and spells. Best FF villain EVER too.

I wouldn't surprise me if they did the remakes in the same order. FF1 and 2 were remade on PSP, FF3 and 4 were remade on DS... I'm predicting 5 and 6 will be on 3DS, seeing as 3DS will probably become "the norm" by the time Squeenix says anything about remaking them. FF7 will probably be on PS3 (or, depending on how long they put it off, PS4), and... who knows with the rest. Didn't care much for 7, but I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in creating a better experience out of it with the remake, seeing as how surprisingly good Crisis Core was. i'm undecided on a ffvi remake. it's my favorite of the series, but i don't want a bad dub ruining the voices i've had in my head for the characters for nearly ten years now, either..

if square was willing to remake games minus voice acting, that would solve the problem, but i seriously doubt it'll happen that way. i also don't want cameos by cloud or whatever being added; that's just trolling fans..

Meh. The voice-overs for their more recent games like FF13 or Crisis Core have been pretty good. (aside from Vanille from FF13 and Hollander from Crisis Core) The quality of voice acting in the FF4 remake was above and beyond any reasonable expectations for a DS game, as well. I don't think voice-work is really a concern for Squeenix anymore, just the quality of the actual games... and if it's a remake, there isn't much they can do to screw it up on the gameplay front.

yeah, the voice acting hasn't been bad, but it hasnt been perfect, either. and they might not give it the same treatment if they don't go all-out with the remake. i'd rather just not have voice acting at all, like the dragon quest games, but i guess i'm in the minority here on that.

yeah, they can't screw up the gameplay, but i wish square also worked to improve and tweak things, like pretty much every other company does with their remakes. wish they'd stop lowering the difficulty level, too. if anything, a remake should be more difficult than the original, but SE is only concerned with gaining new fans, not pleasing the old ones, anyway.

i didn't say it was bad, but on the other hand, i can't take a jrpg recommendation from anyone who hasn't played persona 3, 4, or the world ends with you yet.
go plays those first, then decide what a GOOD jrpg is.

it wasn't. it was harder than the US release of the game, which had marginalized difficulty to begin with. the japanese ffiv release is still, hands down, the toughest final fantasy game to date, dude. all your characters have to be lvl 80 or above just to handle the final dungeon.

Played a bit of Persona 3, felt the "social links" could screw right off. Didn't bother with Persona 4 since it uses social links as well. Played, beat, and traded in TWEWY, disappointed in its lack of replay value. But hey, I can play this game too. Go play Shadow Hearts 1&2, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Suikoden II, Albert Odyssey, and Valkyrie Profile, then decide what a good JRPG is.

I would prefer a very light refreshing of FF1-6 be put on a single Blu-Ray disc and or distributed on the PSN. Just change it so that it looks better on bigger modern screens no voice acting, no new cut scenes just better looking maps and characters. Five, Six and four are still my favorites after eight newer games in the series.

Hm...well, I think it would be pretty cool to remake FFVII, but it's probably because that was the first FF that I've truly known. And it's still relatively popular.I've played FFIX and I've seen FFIV and those are cool to me. I tried to play FFVIII but got stuck. xD And Cris Core is a good game. <3

Oh, and P4 is fun though it's probably better suited to be an anime or a movie because of the long cutscenes...seriously. xD
