I'm sure by now most of us have heard about the things yesterday's weather did to Milwaukee and the surrounding area, and surely experienced our fair share of it over the evening. Well, we got more storms moving in and expected throughout the night and into much of the day tomorrow, finally clearing tomorrow evening. Between this and the heat, I choose the heat. XD

So if you're going out, especially at night, be careful.
If you're not going out, that's probably a good thing. XD
And if you like thunderstorms (unlike me), enjoy!

Is everyone doing okay? Hope no one got flooded out.

We here in Montana are having one of the wettest summers on record. We usually don't get a lot of rain during the summer, but this year it's been constant. I think I've watered my lawn once.

Wow, I didn't realize it was that bad up there. I've been neglecting to watch the news recently (plus the not being able to due to poor TV reception) so I didn't realize it. I pray for anyone up there that might have incurred home loss.

Jamie and I lost count of how many time we heard sirens go off on Thursday night. Mundelein's went off once (that scared the living daylights out of Jamie, as he was outside watching the skies, and then...*counts* I believe all three of the sirens we have in town went off at once), but we would keep hearing the sirens from Libertyville, Grayslake, and other surrounding towns winding up and down.

At one point, after ours went off (and the air went very still) I had to phone-spam my parents to wake them up and tell them that the sirens were going off and the weather was ripe for a touchdown. Thankfully, nothing touched down in Mundelein...though I did hear rumors that there WAS a touchdown somewhere north of us. Haven't seen any official reports on it, though.

The lightning was beautiful! I enjoyed sitting in the car with my boyfriend and watching the lightning (it was storming when I left a friend's house) until the weather lightened up. I was stalling him from leaving because he lives about an hour away from me. I wouldn't let him leave in such a terrible storm.

My basement is now a swimming pool with no sign of it draining. Normally just an annoyance, but that's where my office is. Never thought I'd need to wear boots to use my computer. Posted Image

I hope your computer is OK. More importantly I hope it is safe to use it in a flooded basement. One often hears about the dangers of entering a flooded basement without turning the power off.

No damage to any possessions, thank the Gods. We usually get a little water during really heavy rains, but usually nothing more than a puddle around the floor drain. I still take the precaution of keeping everything up on tables and shelves, and leave the bottom drawers of the file cabinets empty. Plus all the outlets and cords are up high on the walls.

Looks like it paid off this time. The high water mark was just under 10", and finally drained this afternoon. Now there's just that half-inch layer of sludge everywhere that needs to be scooped up. BLEH!!!
