Yep, Nick has finally announced that it is going to air a sequel series to Avatar: The Last Airbender.Picking up 70 years after its predecessor, Legend of Korra deals with the new Avatar, a female Waterbender. More info in the link:

When I first saw the title, I thought it was going to be the blue alien movie. I'm glad it isn't.

And now to comment on the sequel.
Looks like it should be pretty good. I like that she doesn't seem to be a female copy of either Aang or an Avatar copy of Katara. Original charaters are nice. I also like that there is an Aang's son - meaning that there are ties to the original without having the original characters. Its awesome and I can't wait for 2011 to see it.

If they had a copy of Katara as the main character for the sequel I would instantly dislike it D:

Katara was cool but her personality would be far too annoying as a main character.
