Sure, the con is a year away, but that doesn't mean that we should slack off! Whether you are starting on a new costume or modifying an old one, this is the place for all those cosplaying as the fantastic characters from the CLAMP series to come together and chat.

Talk about your characters, status in creating your costumes, post photos, and all that good stuff. ^^

I'll start:
For next year, I plan to totally embarrass my favorite character from xxxHolic, Kimihiro Watanuki, by genderbending him and feminize him. I'm torn on two options for the top: Watanuki's school uniform jacket or a man's white dress shirt - both of which he's frequently shown in throughout the anime and manga. If I go with the dress shirt option, I could also go with a woman's white blouse. The rest of the costume would consist of a black skirt, black knee-length socks, and black boots along with a black hair wig styled into a ponytail with bangs, as well as carrying Mokona and possibly Mugetsu as well.

I'd personally love opinions on which top to go with, btw. =)

Some of my friends and I might be in. We're considering all going as different CLAMP characters. We haven't made any official decisions, yet though.

I'm planning the Season 4 (XxxHolic Ro) version of Watanuki. I just need to figure how to make that damn pipe

I'll also have my dollfie cosplay Yuuko. It'll be her red kimono since I managed to buy one at ACen.

That's a great idea! I recently bought my first bjd, and I never thought of incorporating her into my cosplays...I totally should!

Yup. Mine is gonna be cosplaying along with me for all mine next year. She's gonna be cosplaying a Steampunk version of Melfina to go along with my Steampunk Gene Starwind & World of Elegance or Noble Scarlet when I cosplay Urd or Skuld (I haven't decided which one yet).

I reccomend joining Den of Angels. While it is a very large forum, you can find some great sewing & prop making tips for bjds of all sizes.

I've made it my (secret) mission to convince my best friend to watch xxxHolic and then have him genderbend Yuuko. XD Particularly the episode/chapter when they visit the apartment of the woman who couldn't stop going online - it'd give him an excuse to carry around a red bat all day (since he wanted to carry a bat for some odd reason this year but I said no...if you saw him, he had a corded telephone in his pocket and was handing out cookies to random people). That, and it'd be way too much fun.

Okay, I decided to go with the white top and black skirt/socks/boots combo for my genderbending Watanuki cosplay. For that part I have almost everything - I just need to buy the socks. Wig wise, I found one I plan to get off of Amphigory and I'll get a Mokona plushie off of RightStuf or Amazon before the con.

However, I'm stuck on how to make Mugetsu. I want to be able to wrap him around my neck, having his body go underneath the collar of my shirt, the tail on my one shoulder, and his head close to my face as if to give me a kiss. I know I'll need a furry fabric, something to make him bendable, and beads for his eyes, but otherwise, I'm unsure of how to go about this. Advice?

I'm having the same problem myself. I'm trying to figure out what's used inside neko tails since it's bendable. Not sure what fabric I'm gonna use, I plan to wander the fabric store soon.

I'd say go to a hardware store and ask for assistance to find a firm, bendable wire.

Well, hopefully next weekend I can convince my mom, since we'll be nearby anyway, to take me by Hobby Lobby in order to search for all the materials I need for making my Mugetsu prop. It should be a lot of fun. XD

XD Trust me, I'll be posting them. This is the first time I've ever done any sowing to create something (usually I do a very poor job at hemming up things I cut instead), so this is going to be interesting.
