I had my other thread that was meant to talk about Arakawa Under The Bridge, but I feel that using that thread for the purpose of finding new anime to watch is a little deceptive. Anyone recommend some anime they find as "great"? I like pretty much anything, that isn't yaoi -.-, so no need to ask for my specific tastes! Just post your favorite animes and as long as they aren't in my long watched list, I'll be sure to check them out!

The most romantic work of them all would be Fujishima's 25 year old masterpiece, Ah! My Goddess. The TV show that aired between 2004-2006 was a fairly good adaption, only changing some cosmetic things, shortening it so that 26 volumes of manga could fit into 52 episodes (and a 3 part OVA). If you're not aware of the plot, it begins when a down on his luck college student accidentally calls heaven and is sent a Goddess who fills his one true wish. "I want a Goddess like you to stay by my side forever."

Thus begins the relationship of Keiichi, the kind hearted college student, and the woman who will ruin women for you, Belldandy.

I defy you to watch it without your heart melting even a little bit.

My bad $495.99 there are 50 DVDs not counting the movies. Netflix has all but 1 DVD so that is a more cost effective route.

As someone who loves Kare Kano to bits and pieces, I just have this to say about the anime:

DON"T DO IT!!!!!

Read the manga instead. Your sanity will thank you for it... Once you read it, if you really want to, go watch the anime; it starts out really good, but the last, like, 4 or five episodes are terrible. ;.;

Then again, I say that about most anime, these days...v.v;;;

Unfortunately, because the anime adaptations of so many romance comedy manga fail so epically hard, I can't really give you many anime recommendations for that genre...if you're looking for a good manga read, however...

At least the Fruits Basket anime had a satisfying ending....

But the voices in both the English and Japanese versions annoy the heck out of me, so there's really no winning. >.<

Honestly, there are some anime, like Fruba, where I'll tell someone to read the manga, but the anime isn't terrible. Then there's anime like Kare Kano and Loveless, where they just completely screw up and there's no redeeming it (the plot in Loveless doesn't really pick up until volume 5, and the anime stops on volume 4). If you ran into me at ACen, you heard my rant about how they screwed up Black Cat...*fumefume* *Demands a remake where they actually follow the mother-loving timeline*

Fantasy and slapstick old school style, featuring an awesome cast no matter which language you pick. This is my #1 favorite and is the series that got me into anime.

I like Ranma 1/2 as an anime, but the manga is better to me. I also enjoyed Fruits Basket, Love Hina, Aishiteruze Baby(sorry if that's not right),and Chobits. I'm also about to start watching Ai Yori Aoshi.
