Not that appreciating only anime openings is bad... :D Come an expand your horizons!

Just wondered if anyone else out there was more up on the Japanese music scene than any other. Also made this so we could share/recommend some new artists.


I'm mostly up on the Japanese Jazz/Hiphop scene but I'm really open. (Although visual kei is not really my thing)

To get it started, list some of your favorite Japanese musical acts.

Jazz....

You, my friend, may want to look into a band called School Food Punishment. They have two albums on I-Tunes, Riff-Rain being the more recent, and my favorite of theirs.

I think there was a thread dedicated to Japanese bands...I wonder where that went because I made a huuuuge list of bands that I like lol

Jazz, huh? So would you be a fan of Hiromi?




I actually tend to enjoy some of the Visual Kei stuff, but more the symphonic or more rockish stuff, like Versilles or An Cafe.

The only person I listened that would be considered Japanese music passed away earlier this year.

Nujabes.

I don't like rock-y or pop music alot, so I don't listen to the others much.

His music was just amazing. Songs you just chill out too.

I'm a HUGE Nujabes fan. I was so bummed out when I found out that he died. Major loss.

Good to know there is another Nujabes fan. But yeah it was a huge loss. Music won't be the same.

as said in the other music thread... these are the only bands I can stand to listen to... and only then it seems it's half and half as far as the songs I like from them... the happier and more "preschool" sounding the band/song is... the more I dislike it

I'll just accompany each band with a song I take a liking to from them underneath it for an idea
