I'm playing with an idea for a cosplay next year, and a large part of the character's cheek is covered with a black tribal-like tattoo. I wonder what would work best. Would a crayola washable marker work? I don't want to use anything that's messy (paint) and would stain if it touched anything. I also don't want anything that is permanent at all.

Well if you could find something similar you could just use temporary tats. They will come off with rubbing alcohol. washable marker would work but it may still leave a trace.

You'd have to make sure you get the right tattoo paper. I bought some once, and the transparent parts of the image were a clear film on top of my skin...icky.

Or, if you have an artist friend...they could draw it on with black face make-up/urban-decay black eyeliner (I say urban decay eyeliner because it glides nicely, and doesn't drag across your skin)

Or something like that...any-which-way...good luck! ^_____^

Along the same lines as the whole temporary tattoo thing: you could look into having it airbrushed on...not sure how good of an idea it would be to have something airbrushed onto your face, but if it's all kosher and stuff and you can find someone to do it, that might be a good way to go. Like temporary tatoos, they come off with rubbing alcohol.

Personally I find makeup would be best way to go - non-permanent, washable, nonallergenic/noncomedogenic & can look very good while needed. Now, if you're going for a more professional image of the image.... perhaps you may wanna get it henna tattoed on? It'd last ~2-3 wk though, only drawback i can think of...
