Today is not so bad. Its nice and cool. The humidity is not a factor for once. No need to crank on the AC!

I know! Isn't this awesome summer weather!? I wish I had a pool pass to ogo to a pool in the area... <3 Swimming~

I've been doing yard work all afternoon and have been walking around doing it bare foot, I love the feeling of warm grass under my feet and a cool breeze flowing against me~

I prefer cold. You can control your body tempreture with layers of clothing (which don't result in high electricty bills), but in the heat, you're fried and you have to keep hydrated and you're all sticky and your skin burns and you feel all muggy and tired.

Heat is the enemy!

You're my favorite.

God I can't wait for winter. I can't say I've been liking this summer a whole lot. Especially since we don't have A/C. Even my room is hot and I live in the freaking basement.

Heh, our next door neighbor envies us. The A/C units tend to get a little fritzy once in a while...this year is no exception. One blew out completely, leaving our three-unit apartment building with two working air conditioners. Well...working is a loose term. One (our neighbor's) doesn't like to stay cold. The other (ours) has busted knobs, so there's really only two settings - cold, or off. We can't choose the airflow settings or the temp. All we can do is turn it on, and when it gets TOO chilly (which isn't likely to happen tonight), we turn it off.

Thankfully, the A/C doesn't have the temp setting on Arctic, so even on moderately warm days it takes a while for the place to get frigid. ^^

they had a 'heat' advisory on the tv a bit ago. I remember those from when I lived in DC. it happened *a* LOT. Tho it was usually (in addition to heat advisory -- there were air quality advisories too. code yellow / orange / red) you got to ride the bus for free those days.

it's good to know, cos my puffer is empty ... and no DR.. :(

Ah the yearly heat wave, Im just used to it now. For almost 8 years I have had to have my share of cashiering time outside in the garden center. In the last few years we have added a glass hut which only makes it worse. Now we have to stand in this glass box which in reality acts like a sweat box/ sauna. This time outside can range anywhere from 4 hours to an entire work shift. Breaks tend to be forgotten.

So no water, sweat box, and no break makes everyone on my team who has to be out there be in a unique mood after. Im lucky this week I have a couple service desk days but next week I have 8hour shifts scheduled for the garden register.

I wish I was in a frozen server room. We're in a standard office with each desk holding two computers beneath. >.< Outside heat index will be at or above 100F until about 8pm, and I think we peaked around 80% humidity.

Well, I tried to relocate to the serverroom, but people flipped out when they didn't see me at my desk. They discovered my cool cavern of wonders and didn't like it one bit.

I think they're just jealous :'(

The humidity is what makes the heat so unbearable. My mom was born and raised in Cali (I was born there, and inherited her undying hatred of freezing weather), and she can't stand hot temps + high levels of humidity. Out in Cali, it's mostly dry heat, which isn't nearly as bad.

I'm actually trying to teach my body to "ignore" the heat, as well as the cold. Apparently, the AC at my work keeps trying to drop further than what we set it to, so I'm using that to practice.

the only thing I can say about florida was the fact each trip Ive had there its been cold and rainy and one trip was the day after christmas and we had snow, it did not stick but it did fall. I have sense felt florida to be the nice neutral weather, and understand why the elderly and retired congregate there.

At least you guys aren't where I just came from.

Down in Springfield, MO this morning, 7am, it was 87 degrees. It barely dropped below 80 last night.
