Another Anime Central has come and gone. As we all sit in our homes recovering from the long weekend now is a time of reflection. What were some of your favorite moments from ACen this year? The Resident Evil shoot is always a good one for me, and getting to meet Brina Palencia was a big plus too. But what about you, my fellow attendees? What made this past weekend awesome for you?
My life is watching anime, playing video games, and eating Taco Bell with reckless abandonment with my lady!

My cosplays: Raccoon City Police Officer (Resident Evil 2 / Resident Evil 3), S.T.A.R.S. officer (Resident Evil: Apocalypse), Chris Redfield (Resident Evil), Dr. Ray Stantz (Ghostbusters), Chris Redfield (Resident Evil -CODE: Veronica- S.T.A.R.S. gear)

One of my favorite memories of this years con was the following:

As different people know one of the cosplays I do is the Santa Claus with the green Hair and various weapons or End of Days Santa. Well on Saturday, I was walking around the dealers room in full garb getting various looks from the masses and trying not to freak out any of the children. Most of a the younger set would either give me a WTF look or say out loud look "Santa Claus" and point at me. Well one little girl actually walked up behind me as I walked by her and her family and took my left hand and says "Hi, Santa!". So I stop ,look down at her, and start talking to her as if I were the jolly elf (not wanting to shatter her world.). She then let go of my hand, glomped my left leg, and wouldn't let go until she told me thanks for everything that she got for Christmas and she promised to behave herself. I looked over at her pareants , who were laughing and taking a few photos of me, with a look of amusement. So after a while she lets go and walks back to her pareants and says" Bye Santa!"
I don't walk to the beat of a different drummer, I have a whole band including bagpipes.

My favorite memory is something that I look forward to each year and it's seeing the older couple that always dresses as Princess Peach and Raccoon Mario. They're one of my biggest highlights each year cause they're the nicest people.

When I'm that old you can bet on me dressing like that and hopefully I've found my princess peach by that time. LOL

I hope they come back next year.

I love them! They are so cute!!!! =D

My highlight was meeting some of the cast of Sgt. Frog! I was sad that I didn't get a pic with Brina. And I cosplayed her character too. >>

The masquerade is generally the highlight of the con for me, just because I love it when I can entertain people - and from the cheers during our skit, sounds like we managed it again. On a similar note... attracting a small crowd on the Beatles: Rock Band console in the game room. Especially since I was dressed as a fictional video game rock star when I took the mic. XD Seriously, made my weekend.

Meeting Steve Downes was really cool. He seemed like a nice guy and we talked with some really cool people waiting in line.
Going to the red bar in Halo armor was nothing short of hilarious. The bartender thought we (my friend and I) were a nuisance, so after ignoring us for a good 15 minutes, the manager came around and told him to serve us so we could get out of the way (we were definitely in the way, but not intentionally a nuisance!).
Some kids asked me if they could take my picture teabagging their friends - seriously, who'd deny them that pleasure?!
Other than that, late night chats with my best friends on the balcony were pretty sweet, wouldn't have traded it for the world.
I will be was an absolutely enchanting Persona 4 protagonist.

Well of course everyone's favorite moment was the whole con itself :P But I guess you want more details than that, huh?

I think my biggest highlight was meeting Doug Walker. Now there's a funny story behind all this, because I was probably one of the very first people to see him Friday. I was walking out of the convention hall after hitting up the dealers room, in my Nostalgia Critic cosplay mind you, when I hear someone say, "Hey, nice costume man." I turn to see two guys standing against a couple of the doors to the convention hall. The one on the right tipped his hat at me to let me know he was the one who said it. I wave and say thanks then kind of dumbfoundly look at him for a moment, because he looked very familiar to me...then I looked a little to the left. Lo and behold, it was Doug and Rob Walker and I kinda shook my head, put my hands up and went "Oh my god!" If it wasn't obvious to those who know them, Rob was the one who said it to me :P So I walk over and shake their hands, saying it was great to meet them and all, and Doug gives me props on my costume, cracking that it was in better shape than his was at the moment. I guess his suit jacket is finally falling apart as well as his hat. He said that sometime after Kickassia is over he'll probably work on getting some new stuff for his NC outfit. Then I asked what they was doing out there. I guess they was waiting on their badges still so they could get to their booth, and they even asked me where it was XD So then I ask about if they just have the booth or if they're gonna have any secret panels. Unfortunately as Rob told me, they didn't, the reasoning behind it is the ACEN staff said Doug "doesn't review anime." >:( I guess they've had this same issue at anime con's before, to the point at one con they was being run around in a loop that they wasn't sure if they'd even get a booth. Doug chimed in that if they hadn't they planned on protesting outside of the con saying "Give us a booth or give us death!" XD I also asked about Kickassia, saying the trailer looked epic and couldn't wait to see it, and Doug told me they couldn't wait to see it either cause they was still in the process of editing some of it XD Slackers, I tell you :P But it's all good, I've seen the first two parts and they've been epic so far. So before I head on my way, I ask Doug if I can get a picture with him real quick, and of course he said yes :P I asked Rob to take the picture for me since none of my buddies were around or else I would of gotten him in the shot too. Of course, being Rob, he about found a way to get him in the picture anyway through the reflection on the door behind us. Unfortunately I forgot to tell him the flash was on >.< So he was blinded out...but it's all good because he laughed as soon as he saw the result. The positioning of the light from the flash was almost a perfect circle right in the center of me and Doug, and he jokingly said "God smiles upon this picture." We all started busting out laughing. So I said thanks for the picture and told them both how nice it was to meet them again, then went on my way back to the hotel.

It was a really great experience, especially the fact I was able to have a genuine conversation with them for like 5 minutes without any other fanboys nerdgasming around us and trying to butt in. Plus the props on the NC cosplay really made my day, which I did tell Doug I specifically did it so he would see it XD So yeah, that was probably the highlight of my ACEN 2010. Though the Smokers pose during the FF7 shoot was a close second :P Anyone who was there knows what I'm talking about XD

EDIT: Oh yeah, here's the picture I was talking about XD

I had a couple of favorite things happen. 1. My rooms were on the 3rd floor all next to each other at the Hyatt. Made everything a lot easier. 2. The Snake Man costume I made for my little brother was a success! It was his first cosplay and he had a lot of fun getting his picture taken. 3. Polygon Cloud. I am one of the craftsmanship judges, so I go to meet him. Seeing him walk around was so creepy/awesome!

My ACen 2010 highlights:

1: Meeting up with a Link cosplayer, giving him a gold coin from my Mario cosplay [?] box, and having him give me a plastic Rupee in return - then explain that I've given him a coin for the last 3-4 years and that I'd inspired him to start giving things out. I'm a Trendsetter, ladies and gents!

2: The Dork Chorus (we're going on tour in '11) first singing Ode to Joy, a la Beaker from the Muppets - "Mee mee meeee!" then breaking out in con-line karaoke while waiting for "Stump Vic Mignona in classic star-trek trivia"

3: Realizing that Vic Mignona is a *huge* nerd, just like myself and my friends

4: Retroactive: realizing that that Nabeshin cosplayer who I gave a gold coin to, who wanted my picture and all, wasn't a cosplayer. That was the *real* Nabeshin. My mind, it is blown!

Being an utter moron with my friend late Friday night and making up Snape "pairing" names. We were talking about "Snirens" and "Snambulences" before our other friend not-so-nicely told us to shut up and go to sleep.

People staring at our car on the way there. We went crazy on it with paint markers. Some people were amused and one group of people took pictures, but we got a lot of disapproving glares and people looking away.

My friend brought sunflower body spray, and I swear it attracted Russia cosplayers.

My other friend cosplayed as England, and was running around with Union Jack boxers outside her pants on Friday as per my terrible suggestion.

Aural Vampire concert on Friday. *A*

The Elmer Fudd cosplayer on Saturday that was around the line for the Hetalia panel. At one point he spotted some people with bunny ears and was like "WABBITS!!1" and chased after them.

Seeing Aural Vampire in concert. They're one of my all time favorite bands, I was so honored to see them live. And I almost cried during the first two songs.

My two main awesome memories were:

1) I finally got to meet Vic Mignogna, who is my favorite voice actor

2) I made some new friends while waiting in line for Vic's autograph session

Ahhh... So much to tell.

I'll probably start with running into Brina in the elevator without realizing it. I looked at my hand and realized I had managed to get super glue on it (again). "Aw man... I got super glue on my finger," I said, when suddenly I heard someone reply," Aww... It happens." I look up and it was Brina. XD

Next I'd say was running into someone cosplaying my favorite TWEWY character that I hadn't seen at the photoshoot (I was one of the two Sho Minamimotos there). I was kinda down since I had come to realize I was going to leave the next morning and we had to miss out on our masquerade skit. I was watching the end of the masquerade with my group, and we sat there for a few minutes afterwards. I look up at one point. In the distance, and in the corner of my eye, I see a Beat from TWEWY. I'll tell ya. He really brightened up my night, even if I talked to him for a brief moment and took a picture of him and his Rhyme. So if you're reading this, thanks, Beat! :3

While I'm on the subject of TWEWY, every Sho I ran into while I cosplayed Sho. It was a riot. And then when I found Uzuki. "You!" "Yooou!" "Yooooou!" XD

Then when I was Misawa and was in the elevator, I found something I never thought I'd ever find. Misawa fangirls.

Girl 1: Are you... Misawa?
Me: (In character) You know me? O.O
Girls 1 and 2: *squee* Misawa!
Me: I knew it! I do exisit. :D
Girl 1: If you want attention, Misawa, you should join the Society of Light.
Me: I did... They forgot me...

I love being in character as Misawa, but I had my friend in stitches as Shinigami-sama. In the elevator, I'd greet and say good-bye to everyone at all the floors we stopped on (it was only 2-3 floors). At the photoshoot, I'd start saying random things in Shinigami's high pitched voice. However, when it came time for the Shinigami-sama vs Asura picture, I switched to his deep voice and shocked about half of the photographers.

That's all I can think of for now.
A-Cen 2011 cosplays:
Friday: N (Pokémon Black/White), Bruno (Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds)
Saturday: Air Man (Mega Man 2), Paulie (One Piece), Minamimoto Sho (TWEWY)
Sunday: N (Pokémon) or casual Quick Man (Mega Man 2)

Overall, it was a great & busy con. Didn't get to see as many friends as I would have liked because I was working all weekend, but I was running on an adrenaline high all weekend, bouncing from place to place. I didn't make it to any panels, but I got some shopping done! Even though it was crazy busy, I don't regret anything... I don't enjoy going to cons unless I'm staffing them. *shrug*

Repeatdly running into my friends all 3 days with one wondering if I/we're stalking each other (believable as we were at the Hyatt...on the same floor), me and 3 friends skipping the line for Wendy Powell and saying goodbye since she spoke at our colleges' anime club and some other event I missed. There were probably others, but those are one of the interesting highlights of 2010.
