I probably should have posted this earlier, since I've been basically just lurking these forums for a while.. but I guess better late than never.''

So about myself, my name is Ryan and this was my first year attending Acen. You may have recognized me as the rather clumsy really, REALLY big guy walking around in a gray hoodie hanging out with people dressed as Sazh and Snow from FFXIII. I have no honest explanation for why I chose a female character for my forum name, other than Ranma 1/2 is one of my favorite series' and it was the first thing that came to mind. I am studying to be a video game programmer, if all works out, and enjoy passing time just gaming.

I don't have much else to say, so I guess I'll end this post, and try to blend in with the community.

Welcome~ I will say, good luck with the game programming, because you'll need it. I wanted to get into that, but it's really a brutal, high stress career (those commercials where the guys are just playing the games? Nuh uh, not even close.) Around release time get prepared for 100 hour weeks, and be aware that the typical lifespan of a video game programmer is around 3 years until they get burned out and move on (either into the management part of development, or out of the field altogether).

Oh believe me I know, I've been at this school for 2 years now, and I just love programming. I spend my free time doing it a lot of days. A 100 hour week is nothing to me, as I've been living on 2-4 hours of sleep pretty much every day for the past year. I do thank you for your blessing of luck, but I think I'll need it more for finding a position in the industry rather than sticking with the programming. I'm doing this for all those people out there who enjoy video games, I want to make people happy on a mass scale, and I feel this is the best way I can do it.

Also thanks to everyone who has welcomed me so far, I already am beginning to feel at home here. XD

Lack of sleep is just part of the equation, high stress is also a huge factor. But so long as you know what you're getting into, more power to you. I love the logic and the process of programming, but stress is not something I enjoy very much. You have to have a lot of love to want to continue that path knowing all the negatives that come with it, so good for you. ^^

For me, all the stress will be worth it to know that at least one person was able to have a good time playing a video game thanks to me.

Ladies ladies ladies, if you find a man whose only concern about a woman is her breast size, he just may be dumb enough to believe you if you say you have Ds when you have Bs.
