I can't believe it is almost here already? Time sure flies.

Anyway watching videos and man... there is no doubt in my mind that no one can top EAD (Tokyo, in this case) in straight up level design and pure fun factor.

CAN'T WAITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

Looking good. Both gamespot and IGN has lavished it with 10s.

I'm impressed it's getting itself such good reviews, I was worried it would look and play like an exapansion pack for the original game, which is SO unlike Mario. Every one of his major adventures have been an absolute and utter leap and bound in originality from the previous (with the possible exception of 3 > World), which makes this game seem so--- weird.

I don't have the cash for it now, but given that No More Heroes 2 and Resident Evil Darkside have made me have faith in my Wii again, I am certainly going to buy it when I can.

You are still saying that World is epically awesome tho right? lol

But yeah one main reason I don't want this now, it just seems like an expansion to the first one. >_<

Oh, yeah, World is still epically awesome. But if not for the 8-bit > 16-bit conversion, it would be the only main Mario title in the franchise which follows the same formula as it's predecessor without messing with the game mechanics. Unless riding a Yoshi counts... and given that the SQUIRT system (especially with it's floating) counts and the gravity and spin controls of Galaxy do, then Yoshi should.

Galaxy 1 was alright. It was too linear.
It didn't have the exploration elements that were in Mario 64.
Does Galaxy 2 have this aspect?

Surprised by the perfect score from IGN.

I'm seriously considering going to gamestop in my Rosalina cosplay to buy it. (lawl)

What I really liked about the first game was that it wasn't very hardcore or difficult. It was simply a laid back, ENJOYABLE game that I could have fun playing without getting stresed out.

I was worried about the "expansion" feel as well, but every single review has pretty much said it feels completely new, and amazing.

You don't get scores like this by being an expansion pack.

Can't wait till my copy arrives.

I was toying with the idea of a "what are you playing?" thread, just so I could unload my mental dump of thoughts regarding my recent games. But seeing you are at the END of Phoenix Wright 3, I desperately want to make this thread specifically to hear your thoughts and opinions.

The final case of AA:3 is spectacular, stunning and one of the most tight and well layed out pieces of fiction I've seen in a videogame. You are in for a treat, friend.

I made a Phoenix Wright thread a while ago, so it's probably a few pages back. I finished Trials and Tribulations last week and Rise from the Ashes for the first time a few days ago so I'll post my thoughts on those if I can dig up the old thread.

As a curious fellow who did NOT buy or play the first I must ask why you would disuade me from making such purchases.

AVAST, (MINOR) SPOILERS AHEAD!

Super Mario Galaxy haters are insane. It was spectacular.

But Super Mario Galaxy 2 is even better. I didn't believe it was possible, but damn... they pulled it off.

First off, there are more galaxies this time around. There are very few filler stars. You're constantly doing new things. In fact, it almost becomes a negative because there are some awesome gameplay mechanics you use once or twice then never again... because they get replaced by new awesome mechanics. It's insane. How many games can actually claim that they have TOO many unique gameplay elements?

Second off, Yoshi freaking owns.

Third off, the game freaking owns. So much creativity involved. Gah. It's rare that games keep me that interested nowadays, but I basically burned through all 120 stars in a week and wanted more. I guarantee you that you will be doing several, several things in this game that you have never done in a video game before.

Fourth off, I got more. Once you get all 120 stars, there are 120 more. And not like the first Galaxy where it's just the same game with Luigi, it's all new stars. Yes, they are placed in the areas you have already been to, so there is no new gameplay at this point. It's more a bonus. But the placements are pretty devious at times and some of them require some serious gaming skill to acquire.

And then I guess there are two more bonus stars in a new, unique area after that. Will find out soon. I'm at 200 stars at the moment.

GOTG FOR SURE.
