hi guys this will be my second time at acen, first time at the raves/masquerade.

here's my question:

i would like to know the details about when the dances are, how much, if any amount, it'll cost, and as far as my cosplay goes whats a good idea to do and not to do.

i just would like to be as informed as possible!

i tried to look at the acen schedual that was posted on the main page, but it's coming up in a tiny picture with multiple errors on the page 0.o

thankyou kindly

The Masquerade is totally different from the dances, but I can tell you to not wear anything heavy, hot or large to the dances. It's a room full of sweaty people grinding on one another and stepping on your feet. Really fun, but be prepares. Basically the same rules for the Masquerade if you're in the audience.

The Masquerade is a show and competition with skit performances and a fashion show/walk on section where people with impressive costumes walk across the stage and show them off. Then awards are given for skits and costumes.

And I don't think they cost extra from the badge... they never have before.

Animosity Cosplay - We're only doing this because we hate you.

Tuskasu;

The masquerade and raves don't cost "extra" -- if you have you're badge, you're good. There are often lines to get into both though! (fire codes only allow so many people in a room at a given time....)

Re the masquerade: as sexy said, the masquerade is an event where other con attendees show off their costumes and/or do skits. It requires signing up to actually participate (i.e., walk on stage). You do NOT have to be a part of the masquerade to cosplay though! There are rules about costumes @ acen.org (http://acen.org/policies); follow them and things should go well (note: if you're wearing heavy costumes, you're going to end up very warm -- drink a lot of water!).

Re the rave: again as sexy said -- it's a lot of people. It's going to be hot and crowded, and you're going to be bumped into (cosplay stuff that's bulky or can be damaged by being bumped = bad idea!). Again, lots of water is a good thing, earplugs aren't a bad idea (you'll need your hearing 80 years from now ;) ), and be prepared to dance with ~1000 of your closest friends (ok, it's whatever the room will hold -- but it's a lot of people!)

ok thankyou thi gives me alittle better of an idea of what i need to do and prepare for.

ok my last question would be this then:
for the masquerade, where would we need to go to sign up to be apart of the show (if its not to late already) and what would we need to do to prepare for it?
my friend and i were thinking about preforming a skit.

as far as i would like to think this is just an idea and we may not even do it, bu it would be nice to be safe.

IIRC, skits were pre-reg ONLY. If your group would like to walk-on, there are some slots reserved that you can sign up for at con in the Masquerade office. Hours & location to be found HERE.
You are not your f***ing system specs.
You are not your uptime stats, your script file or your oversized desktop screencap.
You are not your broadband connection.

You are not your f***ing post count.

That would be the Masquerade ffice during the times posted at the top of this forum section.

However, all skit slots are filled as of this post. For future reference, if you wish to do a skit, you will need to pre-reg for the Masquerade.
