I'm totally okay with that. Let the Flyers beat up on the Capitals next round before the Pens play them in Conference Finals. Though the Flyers might just surprise the Caps which would also be awesome as the Pens have done well against the Flyers in the postseason the last couple of years. Then again the Pens will have to deal with Buffalo or Boston next most likely. Neither will be easy as there is some damn good goaltending on both sides.

Despite the Sabres losing mostly due to a 0 for 21 powerplay, the series with the Bruins was one of the best series I have seen in some time.

4-2 on predictions so far. I was expecting that Philly might make it close with New Jersey. Really surprised they ended it so early. I figured Brodeur could steal at least one game and the Devils who have been playing decently could at least get 1 or 2 more. Philly is just one of those teams that is tough to play in the postseason. They wear you down with physical play.

I'm not overly surprised with Boston/Buffalo either. Whenever you have 2 of the best goaltenders in the league it really can be anyone's game. I was just inspired by Ryan Miller's play all season and then in the Olympics he was freaking clutch.

Glad the Pens decided to play hockey. They have been inconsistent against the Sens all year, but after losing game 1, they dominated the next 3, then played crappy early games in 5 and 6, just got lucky to be able to come back in 6. It was great to see such good production from guys on the team not named Crosby or Malkin in game 6, especially because Ottawa's game really is great defense and shot blocking. Makes catching them hard.

This could very well be the best series of the 2nd round. I mean both of these teams are so close to breaking through to a deep playoff run that it'll be interesting to see which one actually does it.

Its kinda funny...All the upsets except 1 won in the east, all the favorites except 1 won in the west. Though honestly, nobody outside of Phoenix was actually picking the Coyotes to beat the Wings...

#4 Pittsburgh over #8 Montreal in 7

When is the last time a #4 has played a #8 in the second round? Seriously thats just weird in general. All kinds of upsets in the east have brought this about though. Halak was freaking on fire against Washington. The man put on a goalie clinic the likes of which has not been seen in a long time. Hot goalies can always win you playoff games, but is it enough to stop the Penguins. Well it depends which Penguins show up. If its the ones from game 2-4 of the Ottawa series, they will overwhelm Montreal, otherwise they could dig themselves a hole tough to get out of. Not every game can be won by allowing your opponent the first 3 goals. Pittsburgh is going to have to come out strong early in games so they're not playing catch up late. I can't vote against the Pens though, but its going to take all 7 to get there. Unless Halak just falls apart.

#7 Philly over #6 Boston in 6

Philly is just one of those teams built for postseason play and they proved it again this year. They hit hard and simply wear you down over the course of the series. Couple that with some guys who can put the puck in the net and Boucher who has been playing solid goaltending so far and they should win this series. Rask of the Bruins certainly has the ability to just steal games too though. This could be another great series with some great goaltending.

#5 Detroit over #1 San Jose in 7

This is a history pick...I'm not completely sold on this, but San Jose has been terrible in conference semi finals as of late and Detroit only gets better every round. Yes, they struggled a bit against Phoenix, but Phoenix really proved they deserved to be there. In the end Detroit will do what it needs to do to win. Thats just how this team rolls in the post season.

#2 Chicago over #3 Vancouver in 7

How can I not make this pick on these boards? But seriously, these are 2 teams that have been good the last couple of years really looking to break through. This is probably going to be the best series to watch and it really does feel like its anybody's game. Chicago scared me at points during the Nashville series, but ultimately they did what they had to do to win. I think the same will happen here. Wouldn't that be interesting too if Chicago plays Detroit in the conference finals again this year?

San Jose typically plays poorly in Detroit which is another reason for my pick. I want to say they are something like 5-20 lifetime in the postseason going into the series.

The Wings are going home to play golf for the summer while the B's, 'Hawks, and Pens can all punch their tickets to the conference finals with wins in their next game. Chicago and Vancouver play tonight, the other two series don't meet again until tomorrow.
