I'd love to have a photographer meetup at ACEN. All we have to do is decide on a time and place.

The D200 looks solid, how do you like it? Have you bought any/many lenses yet?

Here is my current collection of DSLR stuff:
http://www.flickr.co...920148/sizes/o/

I never got into film photography.

My current favorite lens to shoot with is the 10-17mm. I love the Fisheye effect.

I'd like to get a D-FA 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro and a SMCP-DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited, but I don't have $1200 to spend on more toys right now.

I'd love to meetup with other photographers at ACen. I usually have my Canon Rebel XTi, but I do own a Canon Rebel Ti & another film camera my family gave me (really didn't pay much attention to what it is).

I've got a couple different lenses, but I'm watching Dancing With The Stars & don't wanna go upstairs to check which ones right now.

Sadly won't be attending ACen 2012. So I'll be taking my cosplay up a notch for 2013.

Yes I like my nikon. Its a few years old though. I'm pretty poor so I don't buy any lens but I do check them out at school.

I love the 80mm! Its a solid portraid lens.

I use my kit lens. 18-135mm I think it is. Standard. I can't checkout any lens. :/

If I win the lottery though I could. And I would probally go to cannon. Since thyeir new cameras have video. :'O

- -

We would need a time to meet. And somewhere simple to meet at.

I'll be here for sure on Friday and Saturday. I need to figure out how to get here on Sunday :/

Is the cta a good place to try? And will I get lost or follow the crowds? XD

I think you made a good choice. Your Nikon is on the higher end as it has a magnesium casing and weather seals.

All of the brands have video and live-view in their SLR cameras these days. I don't think it would be worth changing brands unless you like how another brand's body functions (button layout, menu system, ...) or you want to us lenses that only another system offers (eg. Pentax is big on quality prime lenses).

Personally I didn't upgrade my camera body until 6 years or so.

The only plans I have so far are:
3-5pm (capcom/fighting game gathering) pm on Friday. I don't know if I will stay that long though.
11am-noon Saturday for the Prince of Tennis gathering.
11am-noon Sunday for the Lupin gathering.

The more the merrier.

My friend has a XTi, it's a nice camera. A far cry from the original digital rebel, which he also had. ^_^

I've used cannon before I became a nikon user so I'm familiar with both brands :3
For now I'm just waiting it out until a definate advancement happens :3

I'm usually a "wait and see" type of person.

I enjoy watching the amvs!

I'm hoping to see the "awesomecore" panel.

Sunday I think I'm gonna take the blue line.

I think once the panel list is out I'll have a definate plan. But what evers convient I always say :3

lol photographers taking photos of photographers!

This probably wouldve been a good idea to put in the meetup guide. I'm sure cosplayers would LOOOOVE to be there!!!

As for me I have a Kodak easyshare 7.0 megapixels. Its not the best, but it gets the job done.

Meetup guide? I haven't seen that.

My first digital camera was one that took photos at 640x480 resolution. Although I didn't get serious until I got a 2 mega-pixel Canon Digital Elph SD100. I used that for a few years until moving up to a "prosumer" camera that had one of those big zoom lenses attached to the camera body, and eventually a Digital SLR. I still use a small camera as much if not more than the SLR when I want something easy to carry (It's a Canon G9). I was thinking of selling that and getting one of those small waterproof cameras though. So to make a long story short, digicams are good photography tools too.

I agree. We could schedule it at the same time as a big cosplay gathering(s), or we could just roam the halls for random cosplayers.

Things are going to be pretty busy/hectic since most of the photoshoots start pretty early, but getting coordinated is a pretty good idea.
Remember, just be respectful to each other and especially the con participants and cosplayers!
And don't forget to let them know where they can get their pictures.
Have fun!

Photographer gathering sounds nice actually.

I run both Nikon and Canon but I use lower grade models because I've had bad experiences with my heavier gear at conventions.

but not only that. I kind of realized as a challenge to myself, if you can't make a great picture with the minimal, anything higher is just cheating.

But if anyone at Acen is looking for a photographers service. I look forward to meeting and working with each and everyone of you =D

I'm hoping to have a bussiness card, but I doubt that xD lol

One thing that I've heard from cosplayers is that the "swarms" of photographers can be intimidating if not downright frightening. Photos are cool, but don't forget to give them some space.
Personally, I just let it be known that if I'm just sitting around or generally hanging around with a stupid expression on my face, just say "hay, stupid... I need some pictures." I'll take them. Photography is my crack cocaine! I don't know if that's a good thing.... :P

Honestly since I don't have photoshop, I only use RAW if I'm getting paid to take photos... Which sadly hasn't happened so far. Damn my family for expecting me to take pics for free at Bday parties.

I personally always shoot in RAW format, but I have the camera set to not do anything that changes the image data in-camera like noise reduction. I prefer to make the image look how I (like it/remember how it looked to my eyes) in post processing.

Hey everyone.
I am glad I noticed this thread, I was hoping for something like this.
I'm very into photography right now.
Using Rebel XTi. Have kit 18-55 IS, 75-300, and 50mm f/1.8.
I'm really trying to get as much photography time as i can, especially with people right now, cause a friend of mine wants me to help her out with some wedding photoshoots she has coming up in the next few months.

I would LOVE to meet up with some other photographers though. :]
I think that we should maybe get something set-up like...a phone tree or something so that we can be in contact with each other while we are there incase like there is a photo-op that someone else might like or something, ya know?
