Well I need some help, it's that time of year again. Cosplay crunch time!

Anyone that has watched the anime Ergo Proxy knows that Pino runs around in a bunny-like suit.

Here are reference pictures:

Headshot
3/4ths costume shot

My issue is I want to give the feeling of it being baggy and child-like without either being reflective to cameras nor passing from overheating. Fleece would just be too warm, spandex would be too tight.

I would be using a McCalls pattern similar to 8953 if this helps at all.

Thank you :]

I second the stretch cotton!

Its great material but it still might be too hot considering its like full pj's. I'd definitely check out fabric stores like joannes and feel the fabric that they have. Flannel might be too heavy, and cotton sateen might be too shiny, but it might work.

bypass JoAnns entirely ...

go DIRECTLY to Vogue. they have more fabric, often you can find the texture you need and it doesn't suck the life out of your wallet.

I'm not entirely married to cotton -- I go more for texture. (if it's cotton, then score!)

the most favourite find I have at Vogue for the moment would be too expensive for this project (but it's DAMN yummy for dresses, and tops n stuff -- is bamboo knit)

JoAnn's is merely a craft store with fabric in it ... and it's mostly overpriced crap. Though I have seen some nice brocades.... Hancock has had a mish mosh of stuff ... but again ... mostly crap - I've found some good basics there, but I've found very little really 'to die for' quality stuff. I use either store for buying patterns - and getting craft stuff but I rarely buy fabric there unless it's broadcloth on an insane sale.

I also avoid the textile outlet because its filthy. I can go from zero to full blown asthma attack in less than 10 minutes. If you don't mind buying fabric you'll have to take home to clean .. BEFORE you can even cut it out ... you might be able to get by with getting your fabric here.

If you need help sourcing it, let me know -- I'll be happy to help.
I don't care if you ARE the chosen one, this adventure requires PANTS.

@Emberlynn - Ooooo I need to check that place out! *goes to do a google search*

I've been looking for lycra and joannes and hancock fabrics dont have it in stores and I dont really want to order from them (and yeah, agreed it is pricey).
