I'll start with one of my favorite sad moments. This one is from Futurama. It was the episode where they found Fry's fossilized dog and throughout the episode he was having memories about him. After seeing how close of a relationship they had for the couple years they known each other I cried so hard when

they showed the dog outside of the pizza place where Fry worked just waiting in the same spot for Fry's return. I think he spent 15 years waiting for Fry and died in that same spot.

He was so loyal and I couldnt help but cry and cry and cry! That's love.

This was the saddest and most INFURIATING moment in any anime I've ever seen besides Saikano

Fate/ Staynight:

When you see that Saber goes back to her time and dies. Also when Archer unleashes unlimited blade works and dies, and you find out that he was Shirou all along.

Actually..anything that Nasu Kinoko touches has these moments. Tsukihime, Kara no Kyoukai...etc...

Suigetsu:

When you start to realize, and finally find out that Yuki never existed.

Pretty much those scenes get me.

When Yusuke dies while Kuwabara, Hiei and Kurama get out of the dimention to save him. Saddest part in anime to me.

Naruto Shippuuden:

When Jiraiya dies. The scene where he states all his failuars, leaves Naruto his dying message and sinks to the bottom of the ocean. A bunch of main characters have been killed off but his just got to me differently, even from Itachi's death.

Fullmetal Alchemist:

My avatar. When Ed sees Al's body at the Doors of Truth telling him to come with but he can't since he wasn't his soul. Ed tells him to wait for him. That was surprising since I haven't read the manga.

Grave of the Fireflies:

When Seita finds Setsuko dead after getting her food.

But we can all agree the whole movie was sad altogether.

When Ash let Pidgeot go.

Yeah, I don't know why but it was.

Anatolia Story (aka Red River) - In volume 18 Yuri discovers

she's pregnant with Kail's child. Both of them are ecstatic and in a very honeymoon-like state.

But then in the following volume 19, while Yuri is on a ship to Karkemish

her ship shot and sunk. While spending hours in the cold ocean waiting for rescue, she miscarries. Then in volume 23, she's reunited with Kail and they both grieve over their unborn child.

I was so sad! I could hardly believe such a tragic thing happened in the series. I cried like a little kid.

I can't watch this episode without getting upset. Not once.

But actually anime that has made me cry/tear up the most is One Piece.

Arlong Park:

When Luffy rips apart the room they kept Nami in, when Bellemere is shot, when Gen-san explains that they all knew what was going on, when Gen-san later takes out his pinwheel and puts it on Bellemere's grave, when Luffy screams "Nami! You are my nakama!", etc.

Basically crying the entire time.

Chopper Arc:

Basically the entire last 5 episodes. That huge sakura tree at the end?

Jesus Christ...One Piece turns me into a baby...

That was the saddest moment in Futurama, period. While there weren't many of them, the ones they had though were pretty brutal.

Clannad After Story:

Pretty much the entire second half of the series. After Nagisa's death during childbirth, Tomoya completely ignores his daughter, Ushio. After leaving her with his in-laws for five years, Sanae finally manages to pull the two back together as a family, only to have Ushio die shortly thereafter. Yes I know they're brought back in the end, but still, saaaaaad. ;.;

The saddest moment I can recall that got to me was the end of FF7 Crisis Core. I cried all over my PSP fighting a futile battle I knew I couldn't win. The shattering emotion reels just added to the moment.

Omg....That episode made my bawl...that and the one where

Fry steals the devils hands and then gets his normal hands back and at the end of the episode he plays the holophonor really crappily but it was soo cute.

What a coincidence. One of the sadest moments for me was when all the Pokemon in the Pokemon First Movie are fighting and and Ash turns to stone. Just how Pikachu reacted to that is so sad!

the only times i've gotten choked up consistently watching an anime or played a video game and got consistently choked up is One Piece and final fantasy vi. grave of the fireflies is a definite runner-up as it made me cry at least once or twice, too.
that dog episode with fry is really sad, but it doesn't get to me as much as "luck of the fryish' where

fry realizes how much his brother really loved him even though fry spent most of his life resenting him.
when fry realizes his brother didn't 'steal' his name, but rather named his own son after him--and the
breakfast club theme swells--it's really moving, to me at least. =\

final fantasy vi is pretty much a marathon of "YOU WILL CRY" once the story gets going.
that's the only video game i can remember ever getting choked up over.

Then when Manabu died at the end

The end of Bioshock 2 if you get the "Good ending". That and the nuke scene in CoD4 ): I also get a pit in my stomach when I play multiplayer in MW2 and hear "TACTICAL NUKE, INCOMING!" and I just stop playing because it's like "Aww damn it..." Then I get chills watching the fallout on the screen. (Interesting fact, you were supposed to disintegrate when it strikes but they took that out to keep the M rating.)

I get sad anytime the end song of TM! OVA 2 plays because I think to myself "It will never be such again."

I also felt an extreme sense of emptiness when I watched the final episode of Home Movies.

Nina's death always makes me cry. And even in the brotherhood episode I got all chocked up. Oh gosh. I hate watching chrono crusade, only because of their deaths. ;o;

Oh no, I agree on that episode. Well, I mean I don't think it was 'sad' per se, but no doubt it was very emotional.

When I think of sad moments, I think of the following:

Toward the end of the Hikaru no Go TV series, there's

the "Where is Sai?" story arc. If you've seen the series, then you'll know the following: Sai leaves the world with no regrets. But as Hikaru realizes that Sai will never talk with him again, he grows intensely depressed and angry. The last few episodes of the TV series show how Hikaru deals with this loss. It's powerful.

A Midsummer Day's Resonance is a freeware, translated, worksafe kinetic novel. In other words, it's a story in English with illustrations, and it takes about an hour to read. Right around the time that

the two girls try to meet for the first time, the tone of the story changes. I won't spoil anything else, but I will say that it was the first visual novel that moved me to tears.

Overall, I have tendencies toward angst aversion (to use a term from TVTropes). And since I've been listening to the Animucast podcast quite a bit lately, I've had trouble taking any series seriously...

OMG me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but thats cause im a DIE-HARD Zack fangirl.... and i relate so much to Aeris she is by far my fave FF character so it kinda hit close to home (their story) and of course my other sad moment is also FF related and concerns Aeris.... in Final Fantasy VII when Aeris is killed by Sephiroth! that made me so mad but also knowing that originally it was supposed to be Tifa that was gonna be killed kinda makes me mad that they decided on Aeris to die. There is a 3rd FF one that makes me cry and that is in Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus when Lucrecia tells Vincent Valentine that she is pregnant with Dr. Hojo's child (sephiroth who btw i still think is Vincent's son) and ends her relationship with Vincent.

Pretty much all of Grave of the Fireflies did it for me. I got a little misty-eyed at the ending of Millennium Actress, too, as well as Barefoot Gen. Both of those actually had fairly good endings, but they were bittersweet...which actually tends to get to me more than outright tragedy.

But anywho! Ill Go Out of the blue and say the moment when you found Noa's parents in Legend of Legaia at her home kingdom and find them connected to the Seru there, having no choice but to kill them and end their misery. And before all that, you think with the saving of other kingdoms by reviving a Genesis Tree you would find one there. But no thats not the case, you must break the heart of one of your party members. And Then Kill her psycho Brother that started everything on Accident who turned decent people into monsters!

Gosh I love that game!

Sir Lavitz was the best written character in that game.
