Ok guys this is how it's going to work.

DO NOT GO PAY! NOT YET! Denied panelists get their accounts moved back to the tier that they applied in. So you guys will be paying less once we update the accounts which should be done hopefully by the end of today. I've gathered my forces and we are rushing to get this done for you!

You're getting FREE MAILING!!! I just spent most of my day with my section chief and a MAPS board member working out how we're going to pull this off! We have a list of the panels that were tentative and just got denied and soon will have a list of the names from panels. We will be going through all 250-300 accounts manually updated them to the proper price. These are going to be guest badge types though, it's only something that shows in the system, don't panic. This is so we can print this group off and know they're all for mailing since mailing in the system is cut off tonight. Your badges will be the fancy mailed plasticard badges. The guest badge type is just a type we don't use and it lets us have you all in a group to make sure we don't miss anyone.

You have until APRIL 15th to pay the tier price we put on your account. We will be mailing the tentative denied panel badges on the 17th which gives more than 2 weeks for them to get to you.

If you pay before we update your account unfortunately you will not be refunded.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask! I will be camping this thread for as long as I can.

Hi there,

In addition to submitting a panel, I've also been trying to contact the Press department to get a Press badge. Being told I was tentatively approved and that I could additionally get a press badge, being expected to pay for a badge so soon to the convention is absurd. Press has not gotten back to me at all. I have no idea who to contact from here to even LOOK at press requirements. Who can I speak to regarding this matter? Do I need to start talking to a Department Head?

Although I feel that the forums is a poor choice for major communication channels, thanks for keeping us informed regardless of all the chaos.

This will be in an email to panelists as well. Press will be online shortly, I'll be contacting the DH tonight to verify this. Those who submit panels know they need to pay if they are denied, so it is up to the attendee to have money set aside just in case. This is our first year letting denied panelists pay the tier they applied in so at least it's less money :)

Thank you for this resolution,, but I agree 100% with SpaceDragon here. I'm a little confused at this point because one of the panels that is on that Approved(Tenative) list I have been told was approved...

What I DO NOT understand is why this took so long(you all knew about the space restrictions in January) and yet kept us all hanging with a lack of proper updates and communication. I hope you all understand how frustrating it has been not knowing anything. Realistically there are 72 panels in that Approved "Tentative" list, and realistically it was not going to be possible to approve even a 1/4 of those.

Honestly, It feels that the consideration for us all was not respected. I really hope that this won't be repeated next year. I am seriously disappointed in the way this process was executed, and due to the frustrations and feelings of disgust with the dealings with some of the staff year after year, this will be my last year attending, as I will be speaking with my money and not attending next year.

I just found out that we had made the announcement, we made it a little earlier then I expected as I did not have a chance to update the website. I have now updated the website, I apologize. I am going to be making a few statements in the next few hrs on the website and on the forums to help assist our panelists with any issues they may have.

Registration will continue to monitor our forum threads to ensure any registration issues are addressed with the badges.

Is there anyway of knowing WHY are panels were denied? I mean my panel was in the tentative list for so long.... and then to find out that I have been cut off just like that. My post about plus sized cosplay had alot of response as well... I just want to know WHY I was denied.

Yes there is a plus sized lolita panel, not everyone likes to dress up in lolita outfits.

Lists are being updated shortly. Please remember panel staff probably doesn't know everyone by name so when asking about panels give the name of the panel or your own name (which should only be in private messages). If it's not on the list after the update I'm sure they'll look into it for you.

Never mind. It was in a random spot and not where it should have been alphabetically.

I'm trying very hard not to rant about how poor panel programming is. Luckily, I sent a very long email to the con chair about this. I hope something gets done about this.

We're working hard to resolve the situation.

Please keep posts in this topic productive and on topic with the subject of those who were just denied from Approved Tentative status receiving tier discounts and free mailing. Thank you :)

I had my panel denied and I understand I can get the previous rate. But when I regged my panel I didnt reg the account of the person doing the panel with me. I only registered their full name. Is there a way I can get them the correct reg rate as well?

Have them create an account in the system and contact us with their name. I think I'm understanding you mean they don't have a reg system account. Or you didn't submit their account info with your panel?

No do NOT buy a badge now. If you made a registration account you will prompted once I am done making the transfer of all of the denied panelists on the registration side. Yes I am the special forces making the transfer.

NO ONE PAY FOR A BADGE THAT WAS A DENIED PANELIST UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD SO!

Thank you. Sorry for caps but I want to make sure no one one does something before they are suppose to :D

I am just doing the transfers right now, that is all I was instructed at the moment. I'm trying to get them done ASAP for you guys. I had work, personal errands and I am getting them in between questions about denied panels/registration questions.

When the next step is in process we will let you know. :]

Um...so you posted this on 4:30 pm on the last day to get things mailed? Did you think we wouldn't have already paid by then, considering our choices were go ahead and pay or give up the chance for mailing?

All I know coming out of this is I won't be applying for a panel next year.

Making a post like this and possibly emailing the list of those who applied for a panel (supposing you've even made a list like that...) at least a few days before the deadline seems like it would have been a better idea..

This was negotiated and had to be approved on the registration side for mailing.

This thread was made on the registration portion for badges and we cannot reply when it comes to Panel Programming and how they operate, execute, and make their procedures for their department.

Registration is doing what we can to help out panelists in this dilemma and urgently excuting with what we can on our side.

There are roughly a small handful of panelists that I could not update their account due to them not registering in the registration system. Panel programming will be contacting the select few that were not in the system to create accounts so they are able to receive a badge at the price they submitted their panel.

Also the reason we were waiting so LONG to finally deny panels has been explained, we were waiting to get more space which we finally were able to get our final space so the moment we knew for sure 100% there was no space, we then denied panels.

We could not sadly make any kind of announcement before then, as then people would have all paid and there would have been a chance there panel would have been approved when we got the more space. There truely was nothing we could have done on our Panel Programming end to make this any smoother sadly. Hopefully we can get 100% for sure on space waaay before hand, rather then rooms coming available kinda one by one or certain space here and there etc.

The mailing deal was worked out after I saw panels had denied those panelists, it was finalized as fast as we could get it done. It's our way of trying to help those panelists out in their situation as I knew all 200-300 would not get the message until after the mailing deadline and I thought that was unfair for them.

What about us Approved Tentative Limbo People who paid for badges and had them sent to us? Should we just discard the ones we've got and pick up our panelist badges at con? Do we even need special panelist badges since we're not getting comped anyway?

I'm aware I won't be getting reimbursed which is the price I paid for taking a gamble on avoiding the issues with getting stuck in Linecon. I had no idea you were going to offer free mailing to panelists after approvals went out.

Anyways, yes. Need to know what to do here. I'm probably the only one that did this.

I contacted panel programming about this type of scenario. You are not the only who did this and I want to make sure there are no hassles or confusion at con for anyone. I will have an answer for you later this week/early next week at the latest for those that are approved panelists that bought badge and/or people who are participating in the artist alley as well as being a panelist.

Thank you for your patience! ^^

PS. Linecon is dead. ;D

Line wait time is now average 15 mins. No longer than 1 hour at any time (except the morning flood but there's no way to get over 1k people through the line any faster than we do)

Panelists who got their badges mailed to them go to the Liberty board room of the Hyatt to have their badge marked as a panelist. Artists, your artist badge takes priority over panelist so you pick your badge up in AA and go to Liberty for a panelist marking.
