I remember hearing a lot about Redwall as a kid, but I never seemed motivated enough to pick it up though. I guess I should.

I finished reading the 5th Splinter Cell book. It takes a whole different approach from the first 4 and really is sort of supposed to be along side where the games are now, but seeing as Conviction is STILL not released, the books are now a leg up on the games.

Trying to finish up my Laurell K. Hamilton books! Reading Skin Trade of the Anita Blake series

Are they any good? I've got a good friend who told me that her latest books are basically porn. I checked out a graphic novelization of her first book, and I wasn't impressed. Anita Blake spent most of that one cringing in terror. It's good that a character isn't a Mary Sue, but you can go to opposite extremes too. I still want to give the books a shot, though.

I found a box of old paperbacks while looking in the basement and hauled a few of them out. I knocked out Clive Cussler's Raise the Titanic in two nights--fun to read because when Cussler wrote it back in 1976 everyone figured the Titanic would be basically intact. Still, it's amazing to see what he got right--he predicted that the ship would be found by following its boilers sitting on the bottom (which it was) and that the first part encountered would be the bow (which it was). The parts where the US President talks about the country's economic and financial woes ring eerily true today, too.

Of course, Dirk Pitt is a total Gary Stu. There's one scene in the book where another character undergoes a sudden 180 degree shift in personality for no reason at all, other than to provide Pitt someone to beat up on verbally. The man literally never makes a mistake, and all the characters are talking about how awesome he is throughout. Luckily, the Dirk Pitt books got better before they descended into munchkinism again.

I also like the Lackey books- I think I have all of her Valdamar series.

I also agree that the Anita Blake books have a bit tooo much of the racy stuff in them. The first 4 books were a lot better because they were more about the plot then how much sex she could pack in one book. I would love it if Anita would wake up one day and it was all a dream, and she had the chance to do life as her dream or go a different route.

Currently I am reading The Gathering Storm, by Robert Jordan. Which is book 12 of 14 in The Wheel of Time series. So far so good.

The Uglies series is definitely one of my favorites.

Right now I'm reading the Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Only on page 50, but it's pretty awesome so far.
It's a young adult book, but I'm doing a presentation on him for my Adolescent Lit class, so i chose this and Coraline
to talk about. I forgot what books my partner is doing. I really like his writing so far. I'm also reading M is for Magic, which
is a bunch of short stories. I might also talk about that one too.

You just have to read them..
It's not really porn, you just have to understand why she does it.

She's a bit afraid in the first two books, but then she changes a little bit.

I haven't read the Harry Potter series. Dunno, couldn't get into it. my girlfriend is big on Supernatural Romance/Fantasy. Funny enough, I was the one to get her hooked on it with Laurell K. Hamilton. I loved her first few books, but when the sex started to overshadow the plot and the number of characters increased (thereby reducing the amount of character development) it turned me off. Just my preference, but this suits my girlfriend just fine.

Redwall! Wow, I haven't touched that series in a bit. Favorite book was the Pearls of Lutra. The books I'm reading (among other things) are listed in my signature, but I'm reading Naamah's Kiss by Jacqueline Carey. I'm also re-reading The Skoklian saga by Catherine Asaro again.

On a learning level, I've been picking up books on Zen Buddhism and moral sense theory. Dunno how, but I just ended up with those subjects. Fascinating stuff really.
