I hope this map gets updated soon, I have a few out-of-town friends staying in my hotel room who would find this extraordinarily helpful. I would as well, for use of the cosplay meetup locations if I decide to bring my Nikon D90 camera.

Edit: Ever consider adding in Mitsuwa? I know it's far away, but it's the nearest Japanese mall, and con-goers typically get lost trying to find it when they're unfamiliar with our area.

It's several miles from the con site to Mitsuwa Marketplace, which is right near the corner of Arlington Heights Road and Algonquin Road. The best way to get there by public transportation is Pace Bus 606, which runs seven days a week from Rosemont, right by the marketplace, and all the way to Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.

The stop at Arlington Heights Road and Algonquin is best, BTW. Keep in mind that the 606
only runs every hour or so on weekends.

This would be so helpful to me for the 2011 convention. Is there an updated map somewhere? Thanks much!

I've asked someone else to take the over the map since I'm no longer ACen staff. Unfortunately, I don't think it's ever happened. Good news is, the restaurants and most locations have not moved. No schedules are listed though. If someone would like to update this map, I'll gladly give you the map file or give you permissions to make edits.

Sorry guys. I would update the map, but I don't have too many of the schedules and stuff anymore.

This is such a cool idea. I once visited friends who live in Rosemont, and my morning jog took me past most of these places. I think I stopped in Dominicks for a bottle of water. xD It's only just now that I realize how close I was to the convention center!!
There was a signature here. It's gone now.

Since I'm no longer updating this map, it is now editable by the general public. I'm very glad people how found it useful :)

If someone wants to take ownership of the map, feel free to ask me. I'll gladly give it to you.

Happy updating!

If no one has taken over yet, I could try editing it up sometime before the con with new restaurant and local info as well as hotel/con center stuff. Not on staff so no idea which halls we have in DESCC, though an educated guess would say the same as last year. Probably a good educated guesstimate we're in A again, AND I finally know where the bathrooms there are. And how to get to the Expoteria took me long enough lol. With any luck I'll know for sure before editing so I'm not wasting time & putting out wrong info.

Since the Hamster Tunnel can be a bit intimidating your first few times around (bah, turns and offshoots), I could color the Hyatt-DESCC route one shade & make the offshoots another, with a little color code key. Like an in-game map. Or something. (My head knows what I mean at least.)

Blargh. Both how I feel currently, AND how my FF Tactics characters sound when they die.~

I'll give the map a go. I've done some similar in the past. Until I get an idea of what is going on with the con specifically, I'll focus on some of the areas around the con.

I may need a little help from people locally to narrow down some of the finer details, such as I'm going to be seeking more details about The Park near Muvico.

EDIT 03/26: All hotels have been identified on the map with hotel info/reservation info and associated dining options listed. Moving onto The Park and additional eateries.

To the person who added the Chicago Fire Oven to the map, thank you. It looks to be reasonably close to con hotels, and while its sandwiches seem rather expensive, at least it's not another steakhouse or hotel restaurant. I will strongly consider going there.

Maria's Mexican Restaurant is 1 or 2 blocks further south, at River Road and Foster Ave. If you use the survival map and zoom in, you can see it, but it doesn't have a specific note on the map. It's a slightly long walk, and it's not open for lunch on Saturday or Sunday. Even so, I walked there during ACen 2010, didn't pay too much, and enjoyed the food.

I'm gonna make sure I give this sucker a bit more meat to it in time for next year. The CFO caught my eye so I decided to show it since it was pretty close overall.

Thanks to others who also added to it when it came closer to teh con.

The Park, you disappointed me. I hope you have everything open by next year.
