Hello~

I was wondering if it would be considered a group if three people helped each other make their costumes if it's three separate costumes? We've never entered a contest before, so in the group category we might get pwn'd if we're up against crazy groups of masters working on a single masterpiece versus our three @_@!

Thanks :)!

The short version is: yes.

The slightly longer version is: it depends.

Here's the relevant part of the craftsmanship rules (snagged from the main Acen site):

Craftsmanship Judging Guidelines

1. To be properly and fairly judged on your costume, you must answer, truthfully, ‘yes’ to at least 4 of the following the questions, the first two questions being a definite ‘yes’ (if you will be entering as a group, substitute “your group” for “you”):

1. Did you create your costume yourself?
2. Did you supply reference materials for your costume?
3. Were the patterns used for your costume self made/modified from originals?
4. Was your costume 60% or more handcrafted?
5. Were your props/accessories handcrafted by you?
6. Did you spend a significant amount of time planning, constructing, and finishing your costume?

If you can't point to your costume and say "I made it!", but instead you say "we made it!", you're looking at a group entry. That said: if you've made the majority but your friends helped out on certain pieces (I can't do X, but my friend can....) and as long as it is kept to a minimum, you're likely okay.

re "crazy groups of masters working on a single masterpiece": they'd have to all be present, which means either one scary big costume or LOTS of costumes.

Alright cool, that makes sense :) I sent an e-mail with this question in it, so just ignore that part ^^;

Thanks very much!
