When will these people learn that using people's likenesses without their permission and endorsement is a bad idea?
Seriously. They managed to tick off the First Lady not even a few months ago. Now they're taking a stab at Tiger. Of course, they're saying "oh, we're not dragging his mistakes through the mud, oh no, we're just using his image to help save homeless animals!"

While I agree with spayiing/neutering one's pet to help control the pet population (because i dont want the poor things to be killed because a home can't be found for them) I'm just surprised it's PETA that is advocating such a thing based on what is done to the animal.

I too agree that one should spay/neuter their pet. It would be so sad to see little kittens and puppies and other animals not get homes. ; 3; My hamsters had two litters of 6 and we kept all 14 until they passed away or they got homes.
PETA will do anything to get attention. That's what I think.
PETA is full of crazy extremists (not all, but the majority I've encountered are) that will flip out if you give your pet a little tap on the head for doing something wrong. I give my dog a little pat on the head if she did something wrong like get into the trash. I don't smack her, but I give her a little tap so she knows that she did something wrong without hurting her.

I work in an animal shelter, and my family's owned pets since before I was born - we've always had our animals fixed. In the shelter, the animals are always fixed (they have to be by law) before they go home. Considering how quickly dogs and cats can reproduce (we have cats who came to us when they were barely over a year old, and already pregnant or with kittens of their own), it's necessary to keep their population under control. There are even spay-and-release groups out there who trap stray or feral cats, get them fixed, notch their ears to indicate they've been fixed, then let them go their merry way.
Plus, PETA even had two of its members go to the Westminster Dog Show (they didn't necessarily assign them to, but did support them), and protest by standing on top of the podium with signs more or less decrying purebred breeding and that it kills shelter dogs. (What they fail to realize here is that some of those breeders actually do it to continue the breed. Puppy mills are the real danger, because they are constantly pumping out puppies with little to no regard for the animals' care.)
In this case, it's simply a backhanded low blow to Tiger. While they're promoting spaying and neutering of pets, they're sticking it to him by using him as a (poorly concocted) example of why. They could have simply used a picture of kittens and puppies in kennels as an example. Nope. They're using Tiger and saying he'll be happy about the message they're trying to send.

I don't think Tiger's problem is that he has too much sex, it's that he has too much sex with other people who aren't his wife.

While they should have gotten Tiger's permission, fact is, the billboard is funny as hell and creative. And it's actually very important, and not everyone does it.
I've actually tried to get my family to neuter the cat's around here, and listened to idiocy about how I'd be ruining it's life....
PETA is a bunch of nuts, but not in this case. They just broke the rules, and should pay Tiger Appropriately. Considering this is the only endorsement he'll be getting in a long time, this won't be bad for him.

I honestly think PETA knowingly made a billboard that would cause controversy. Controversy means free advertising. Advertising, whether good or bad, is nonetheless advertising. PETA members are crazy, but not stupid.

Biggest hypocrites on earth. PETA puts more animals to death per year than the majority of animal shelters combined.
I admit it's kinda funny, and spaying/neutering is a good idea. But PETA are just fools.

It gets tricky. They [Tiger co.] really can't sue since its not advertising for a profit. It also isn't a lie, just bad taste. Legally they [Peta] can do it, but its a big no-no in the ethics book, something that Peta doesn't care about anyways.

Not sure about that, have to my legal research when I'm not so tired. It funny how some things do make a newpaper or magazine, but they get puled from othe venues, I think it will depend on the state with the billboards too. Certain states are more lenient.
