I heard so much talk about tatoos, so I thought it would be interesting to get your opinions on plastic surgery. I want to get lower liposuction on my love handles and inner thighs, buccal fat removal, and a nose pinch(makes noses less bulbous). Has anyone here gotten cosmetic surgery? Does it hurt a lot?

as far as lipo... I don't agree with it, just a little bit of hard work and motivation can do what that couple grand will

when it comes to removing excess skin after you lost a substantial about of weight? that I agree with... I plan on doing that procedure sometime in the near future from the weight I lost

I personally have seen a nose job in my time, the initial procedure was because the cartilage in my nose was blocking an entire nostril from having it broken quite a bit in the ring... so I said why not go for the cosmetic since half of it would be payed for by my insurance company anyways

as far as the lipo? I'd just get a gym membership... that's just my opinion

that's what I did and I used to have a stomach that hung over my belt, I'm not going to bore you with before and after pics though... just take my word for it, once you get it in your mind and get motivated, things happen, weight just goes away

I've thought about getting my nose modified a bit as it's gigantic... but eh... I don't know.

For the most part I think its a waste of money. I get that not everybody likes the way that they look, but there are other ways to change it. Especially something like fat. You can always just eat right and exercise.

Still in general I'm against plastic surgery just to get plastic surgery. The fake look is not sexxy.

Depends on *why* you need/want it. After a large weight loss sometimes it's the only way to get rid of the excess supportive tissue and skin. Or if you have something that is a health hazard (and that is oft covered by insurance). My neice had BR surgery pretty much out of necessity.

One source of info is some of the "groups" like you find on Yahoo. If I can find some links I'll edit this and add them.

I agree, especially with the procedures that can be avoided with personal effort. Although, with some types of cosmetic surgery, the goal is wanting to be normal and not have a strange stand out feature. For example, taking the bump off of a nose and making it symmetrical in general (say the person played basketball too much as a kid), would make the feature stand out a lot less. Or fixing someone's teeth because they didn't have proper dental care as a child. I don't see anything fake about that. Trying to make yourself into a supermodel would be taking it too far of course.

With people like MJ... he turned himself abnormal.

I was in bed for a week.... it WAS worth it though, the worst part of the procedure is a week afterwards when they pull out all the packing, might as well just say "hold on while I pull out a 6 inch long razor lined cement stick from your nose"

this was a pic taken after that appointment... my face was still all swollen

I disagree with stuff that's just done for appearances. It does have that fake look too it. Personally, I'd rather someone be imperfect and natural than "perfect" and touched up. The only thing that I would consider is something nasal to clear my passageways. I have difficulties breathing through my nose, probably due to the fact that I likely broke it somewhere along the line but never bothered to get it checked out. XD That seems to run in the family because my dad had the same issue.

Never has cosmetic surgery.

I think its a bunch of BS.

The types of cosmetic surgery should only be allowed on people that actually need it.

Just one thing I hate, and then I promise to shut up.

Why is it that publicly, people talk about how fake and weak it is to get cosmetic surgery, but then make fun of us for being ugly?

(I dont 'hate' it, but it is annoying.) Those are the people that are truly ugly Krystal. What is beauty? It is not something that can be moderated and graded by everyone. Its an individual impression/opinion and those that think otherwise are not down to earth and will never understand true beauty and that comes from inside. Some people just cant see that far. Personally I just dont like the idea of cosmetic surgery like lipo suction. That doesnt work and you get scars and you have to work out much more to keep it from coming back and if your going to be working that hard why have to pay for surgery anyway?? With facial surgery why change? So what if you have wrinkles or a slightly crooked nose. That makes you, you and if people dont like you for that then why be friends with them if they only care about your physical appearance?? I know some people want cosmetic surgery because they think it will make them feel better about themself but what happens if yes they would feel better but they get infections or something goes wrong? Its much better to just be yourself.

Personally, if you have the money to do it, go for it.
It's not my place to tell people what or what not to do
with their bodies. Apparently, plastic surgery CAN be
addictive, and, well, just Google "bad plastic surgery"
if you want to know the results, haha.

Krystal, I don't think you should get/need plastic surgery, and I hope you're not referring
to yourself as ugly in this statement, because I've seen pictures of you, and you're
gorgeous, lady! :< You shouldn't want to change anything about your pretty self!!

I have nothing against somebody who is injured, deformed, ect. Getting the necessary surgery.

If you think you are too fat, or your breasts aren't big enough, suck it up. No, seriously. I'm very much opposed to it, because I am not a coward who wants the man with the knife to fix anything that isn't perfect, and I expect other people not to wuss out of reality either. If it's not medical, it's just your own crappy image issue. Instead of going under the knife, just try to appreciate who you are.

And if you are doing it for the opposite sex, you have failed as a person.

Most people have the potential to be attractive with what they have. They are just so dissatisfied with what God gave them that they just give up. If they must lose the weight, or build the shape, often times cosmetic surgery is a cop out for people too damn lazy to do what I did to improve my image : WORK HARD. Cosmetic surgery is for the lazy, the weak willed, and people who are more concerned with the opinions of everyone else than their own damn self. Don't get the lip, get a treadmill. By the way, if you have some actual medical issue that keeps you from losing weight, this complaint is Null and Void. Get the Lipo, you have a health issue. Regardless, wasting money and cutting yourself up to look pretty just makes you less attractive to me. Probably because you spent tens of thousands of dollars making your butt look better. How about rent a hellicopter so you can spit on poor people?

strong words for something that is left up to opinion.... I agree to some degree but at the same time there is a thing called opinion, and it's written all over every one of your words... let's look at your first sentence for instance, "if someone is deformed", well... describe deformed.... in my opinion a deformation is a scar or injury that happened at birth or from an accident... if someone goes through life hating something about their face, over that time in their minds that "imperfection" IS a deformity to them... to go even further some would consider being a dwarf a "deformity", yet I look at it as "that's just who you are" yet some people strive to be taller and opt for a few inches with surgery.... what side of the fence does this fall on if a deformity is cool to correct with surgery?

it's all well and fine to have an opinion, but don't sit there and state yours like your on a soapbox either, you can keep stating your opinion and backing your claims but the minute you start cutting down the specifics of your rivaled opinions is where it turns to a force of opinion... I mean I could probably go up to some guy that got his whole face redone and rip into him abut how he's fake... but after my rant considering he got his whole face redone I'm sure he'll just laugh, reach into his back pocket, crush me with his wallet and then pull away in his lambo, and in the end, I'm sure he's having a lot better time in life than me xD

it's great to have an opinion as long as you remember things like this are subjective...

like I said, I frown on lipo because I lost about 70lbs naturally, and now I'm gaining lean muscle (I'm @ 20lbs of muscle from almosty no body fat now)... but my opinion shouldn't swap other peoples opinions either.... from that natural 70lbs loss I have a small layer of excess skin that needs to be removed, and it will get removed surgically because that's the only way... why? I think I owe it to myself to have all my hard work being shown off (in this case a lean spilt ab blanket from ribs to business) but the skin is in the way around the middle.... and after all that work I'm sorry, it's just something that isn't flying

so because I'm getting skin removed to show off my hard work I am now fake?

if that was the case then when I started to work out to change my obese butt.. that's when I became fake to change myself from who I "truly am", and if that's the case at the expense of being obese and unhealthy I guess I'll be fake and ripped in your eyes...

OP, if you wanna get lipo don't let a bunch of guys on an anime forum tell you not to or make you feel bad about it... I personally don't like it and am not for it, but that falls under the same category if someone likes lady gaga, because I can't stand the ______, doesn't make either party wrong, it's just a different way we look at it

Actually I think Newski was defending you, cutting off that excess skin is not bad cosmetic prcedure. I think everyone agree's on that, but the rant about not caring what other people say is crap. Do not ask for opinion's and answer's if you cannot swallow them when they are straight and to the point.

It really isn't the body lipo that I'm too concerned about...it's the face. Chubby faces run in the family, and there is like NO way to get rid of it. My Dad still has his, and mom got hers removed, and she couldn't be happier. I do kind of agree with the fact that it's for lazy people. I was thinking that if I was under anesthesia anyway, and if the procedure were free, why not?

Same here. Just got a CT scan Tuesday and having an ENT MD checking it out. My father always had trouble, especially getting bloody noses when he used aspirin. He attributed it to a broken nose in his youth, but I'm not so sure. Tired of the stuffyness and "postnasal drip" 24/7/52.

it's crap depending on how the opinions are relayed...

big difference between stating an opinion and forcing it, the forcing is what causes headaches because nobody is 100% clear cut right on the subject.... look at a politics discussion or a religion discussion, watch how effed up crazy those things get

Making fun of people for being ugly is just weak. I mean people can't always control their appearance so to pick on that aspect and poke fun at it is just sad.

I guess I'll chime in too, that I believe that you don't need any kind of surgery. For one, you are still young. Someone your age shouldn't even let this come to mind. You are at the age where you can just go out and do a little fitness stuffs and you'll be fine.

And I have to agree with Matt, getting surgery to fix a defect is fine, but for just not liking your body, I don't think that should be done. Don't let society's view of beauty affect what you think about yourself. And if it is something you want to change, then work at it.

Have you tried aerobics and all? I don't know if you tried that, or just went straight to cosmetic surgery.

Not trying to seem like I'm attacking you, but I think cosmetic surgery shouldn't even be an option.

am I the only one that sees this as an oxymoron based around personal views or something?

if getting surgery to fix something "THAT PERSON" thinks is a defect is fine, then you are endorsing getting liposuction... because to the person getting liposuction, being fat "IS" a defect... getting surgery to fix a defect "IS" not liking your body the way it is

Well I was meaning a scientific defect, not a personal opinion defect. Such as not having an upper lip. That is a birth defect and would be okay for surgery.

I probably should have said birth defect and not just defect.

It might have something to do with your hormones then. You should go have your physician check you out to see why you aren't losing any weight. That should be the first step before anything.

Making fun of people for being ugly is just weak. I mean people can't always control their appearance so to pick on that aspect and poke fun at it is just sad.

Everyone is beautiful to someone.
I'd rather be loved for what I am naturally than what I am "modified". Although I do dye my hair so I suppose I'm a bit of a hypocrite.

You're a lovely girl, and I honestly don't think you need it. Neither does anyone else here. But it doesn't matter what we think.

Krystal, if plastic surgery is what it takes for you to feel totally comfortable and okay with yourself, then go for it. But make sure you take a good hard look in the mirror before you do.

Ask yourself "Do I think I'm ugly, or do I let others decide what beauty is for me?"

...And of course, weigh the health risks.

To be my own devil's advocate, I saw a show today with a woman addicted to plastic surgery. She looked like Lord Voldemort.

Most of what I think of this has been said from both sides. I have a question for those who think getting vanity surgery makes you worse off than before. Let's say you meet someone gorgeous, fall in love, and this person has just a beautiful soul. You have been together for awhile so the person tells you that got some work done? You couldn't tell before' but now that you know, would you stop loving this person for being "fake"? Not taking any sides. I'm just curious.
