Your Favorite "scene" In A Final Fantasy Game?

Fantasy game? I thought it was a cool non-partisan sort of question. So what's yours? They've been getting more and
more cinematic since the SNES days, so it seems fitting to think of moments in them as 'scenes', anyway.
So..memorable in-game sequences? cutscenes?

...Oh. Final Fantasy scenes. I'll have to think about that for a while. Pretty much every dramatic FF moment I can recall has been done in other games, but (IMO) better. I guess for now I'll just hop on the "FF6 opera scene" bandwagon.

Well Celes and Locke were probably my 2 favorite characters from VI first of all. It was a great point of development for Celes as she finally comes out of her shell a little bit from being this hardened general. You also see how Locke and Celes begin to fall for each other. Then we get a great opera which is crashed by the most memorable joke villain the FF series has had in Ultros.
I could probably write a whole page on it, but thats the short version of why I enjoyed the scene so much.

Also, my favorite scenes are likely from FFT, though I couldn't name a specific example.

Also, the ending scene from the same game. I won't deny it. I cried after I saw that when I beat the game for the very first time. For quite a few minutes.

it's hilarious and moving and exciting all in one huge scene.
i loved how it was a story within a story. the story of drago and maria could have been a
compelling rpg plot on its own. also, yeah, locke and celes were my favorites, too. they develop
a lot and their relationship gets solidified through the, occasionally cheesy, acting during that scene.
the music was nice, too. i just really like the story within the overall story of the game/characters
in that scene.
dunno if it's my all-time favorite from that game, but it's definitely up there.

How did Kimahri do that, anyway? IIRC, he was freakin' barefoot...
I always thought that scene would have been better if it was just Tidus, and if it was playable instead of a BIG-LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT cutscene.

I'm sending you back FF VI without playing it.

I think even squaresoft nowadays openly admits that Final Fantasy started as a rip-off/dif take of the Dragonquest series.
DragonQuest itself being a rip-off/different take on the Zelda games.

The first game doesn't get near the respect it deserves. Looking back on it now its easy to write it off as simple and cliche, but for its time, it was quite brilliant. Beating that game really gave you a sense of pride as it had more than one spot where the game just threw stuff at you and more or less said, good luck. There were no save points right before the boss. There was no quick way out after the boss. And honestly I still remember the whole quest for the rat tail from Bahamut where you get your job class change than any scene from FF12.

Nah 1 is what started it all. It was before cliches even were cliches. That also reminds me. Why doesn't 5 get much love? That games was way ahead of it's time with it's Job system. 5 was like 6 was to 4, a deeper version of 1.
But 4 is my personal favorite. I really don't have any favorite scenes tho. Well none that I can think of atm

5 didn't see a release until later on where a lot of FF fans were expecting 3d visuals having played VII and VIII. I think my issue with 5 was that it simply didn't have the memorable characters that 4 or 6 had. The job system was well done, but I still look for an engrossing story and well developed characters more than anything else in a FF game and I can barely even remember the plot or characters in 5.
