Mangas That Are Better Than The Animes... Or Vice Versa!

For me, the Bleach and Naruto manga are WAY BETTER than the anime. No fillers and I get the more violent feel ^^. I also think that the Death Note manga is a little bit better than the anime, as there's just more detail in it than the anime.

I also think the following series were better in Manga rather than anime:
DearS
Negima!
Black God
World of Narue
Neon Genesis Evangelion ( Though the anime still rocks! )

Persona: Pyro Jack

Love Hina is also better as a manga, but that may be because it would've taken another entire series to put everything Akamatsu wrote and drew into the anime. The manga is also a shade bit more adult...though not nearly as much as the light novels.

If you like the manga characters for Eva you will like the movies, it reflects the manga very well.

Eva 2.0 is when you see the characters move away from there anime selves and more toward the manga versions.

Actually I like the Slayers anime more than I like the manga...the manga is more serious than the anime and Slayers is popular for its light hearted slapstick humor that is strong in the anime.
I'd have to say the same for To Heart...certain series that are adpated from series that are only 2 books long are just better as an anime when they get creative and don't screw it up.
And I don't know about the rest of you but I enjoyed the FLCL anime more than the manga.

Seconded.
But the art style of FLCL is pretty cool in the manga. It's got an interesting, sketchy feel.

Ah, touche. I forgot about the "manga based off the anime" manga. In that case I'd also like to add Heat Guy J, Samurai Champloo, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and I assume Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, even though I never read it. Haha.

Hmmm....I haven't read or seen, but I would say that a 2 volume series wouldn't work.
When I used to read Ichigo 100%, manga. The anime was random bits not in order.

I liked the Fruits Basket manga WAY better then the anime. It may have to do with the fact that I started with the manga, so I became more attached to it.
Maybe if they made another season so they could finish up the series...

Sadly, many anime titles never get a secound season. I really don't get the Furba one, I mean it should have been popular enough to more, maybe even finish the series. Oh well.

Comparatively to the manga.
The manga was so much better.
Keiichi has heard my rant about this at least 13 times....

Angel Sanctuary
Gunnm/ Battle Angel
Hellsing (at least until Hellsing Ultimate came along)
Trigun
X/1999 (much better than the movie, of course; though I thought the TV series was pretty good)
...and that the opposite is true for the following:
FLCL (didn't care much for the anime in the first place, but the manga adaptation looked like it was drawn by a 5-year-old)
Cowboy Bebop (no manga could possibly capture the feeling; they tried twice)
...meanwhile, I'd say the manga and anime versions of the following are directly on-par with one another:
Chobits
Saikano
Gunslinger Girl
GTO

Gunslinger Girls, whether manga or anime are both awesome! -hugs his boxsets, manga, and Henrietta wallscroll- Sadly ADV closed down and reopened as that other company before releasing the final volume of the manga, now until its picked up or finished by their new name company I will have to bear with an incomplete Manga series ( CURSE YOU ADV!!! )

the first season of soul eater is better in anime form.
i think scryed is way better in anime form as well. it's definitely rare because in japan the anime is
more of a spin-off than meant to stand on its own. not to mention manga versions usually are much campier and
childish and waaaay less subtle. the good anime series are usually the ones not based on manga, or based on
mediocre manga so there's more room for improvement.
i honestly liked the beck anime more than the manga for the most part, too. the director just had so much style
and he took a shonen and made it deeper and subtler and basically turned it into a seinen series.

Seconding Scryed. Can't believe I forgot that one. The manga just felt incredibly bland to me, like it didn't know what direction it wanted to go in. The anime series got crap done, with a pretty epic finale. (albeit a very "WTF?" ending) King of Bandits Jing, I would say, also fares better as an anime.
Additionally, pretty much any manga based on an anime (when such an oddity occurs; the Cowboy Bebop manga is like the poster child for this) turns out poorly. See my list. Crap, I should have added the Shakugan no Shana manga to that, too. Enjoyed the animu, but the manga adaptation was very underwhelming.

I have disagree with the latter statement BECAUSE again, Neon Genesis Evangelion manga rocked hard, and it was based off the anime ( thank you Gainax ). Also I really like the Shana manga as well.
I think it depends on certain series whether the manga is better than the anime adaptation no matter which came first.
Personally I like Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade in anime form more than manga ( again, thank you Gainax ).
