What's everyone, I am planning on doing a Halo panel at acen this year that will cover the timeline of the Halo series. I wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were and any suggestions are welcome as well.

Are you talking about covering the timeline of the entire fiction or just the games?

The entire timeline, if we just did the games it would be really limited, we are hoping to show people the rest of the back story, and so they can say stuff like "Oh, now I get that thing random marine 5 said at the beginning at that one level" and so on. It should be a blast.

But that didn't stop the Rock Band tournament.
Adobe Systems isn't a Japanese software developer, but Photoshop got a panel.
Eh, I'm biased. I love halo. But I don't wanna see it forced where it don't belong.
I just think it'd be kinda cool for people who just play the games and want a little more.

Avatar isn't an anime, but I have seen panels for it. There was one last year, I believe.

No but as of 3 weeks ago it is officially an anime, Halo Legends,

I have seen the first 2 episodes and as far as anime goes, they are are ok, the first one had a decent plot and some good action, and so did the second. The 2nd episode had some weird filter or something on it and it looked kind of bad (at least on my TV) and both episodes had sizing issues, (2nd one had Hunters the size of tanks) but I look forward to more and I will totally get the dvd in feb.

Well... avatar isn't japanese... I still consider it anime... (basing judgement on medium used to convey story, which is very much like anime)

But the Halo legends thing is being animated (at least partially) by bones if I'm not mistaken, so Halo has some influence from Japan now...

all of the episodes of halo legends were given to japanese anime studios to work on.
these include Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G., Studio 4*C (that asterisk lies in places of little degrees dot), and Toei Animation.
It's not the beginning of Halo's Japanese influence, sort of. Bungie's game just before Halo was called Oni. It was about a half step away from being a Ghost in the Shell game, but it wasn't, it was Bungie's own IP, so it was more of a inspired by (rip-off) of Ghost in the Shell. When Halo was in production, still a Mac based game, it had the same anime style art (that's a really old master chief) as Oni. I know it's a pretty loose correlation, so you're right that Halo Legends is Halo's first legitimate tie to anime.

Indeed. I dont see a problem having a panel on this. We had Avatar panels, and Avatar cosplays. And if you wanna get technical we had games like someone mentioned above that were not Japanese played at ACen like Mechpods, Rockband, Guitar Hero, and we might even have DJ Hero at ACen this year. So I say go for it!

I had a lot of fun in the panel, (even though I almost fell asleep cuz I was so tired). I think once REACH comes out and the story kinda gets more added to it that the pre Halo 1 story can get added to it. I did like hearing about how the covenant actually came together since I only play the games I didn't really know about it. So thank you for the panel. Hope it's there next year.
