Wow, are you sure none of them are sold out yet? The Hyatt was
definitely booked solid when I called on Saturday, and I made it
a point to ask for rooms outside the block, different rooms, king size,
double rooms, bathrooms, basements, anything. :(

*_* Oh my gosh, you could maybe get more rooms available for
Thursday night at the Embassy?

Awesome, due to the additional blocks open at the DoubleTree, I was able to book online for Thurs night - Sunday night @ 129.99 a night.

Thanks Ken!

I will double check on that, but last check, there were still rooms available in the block. As far as rooms outside the block, there are none. We have all the rooms in the Hyatt in our block.

Also, I will have an answer later today regarding adding rooms to the collar dates (Thursday and Sunday) at Embassy Suites.

I did my reservation online (check in on Thursday, out on Sunday) about a week or so ago now, and Hyatt came up as completely booked no matter which room I wanted (King or double). I ended up booking with the Embassy. Maybe it's that Thursday night that prevented Hyatt's site from letting me book? Just thinkin' out loud here.

Oh well. I'm looking forward to the Embassy's breakfast. :D

That's the same thing that happened with me. If the Hyatt does turn
out to have more rooms available in the block, I might have to cancel
Embassy and book with the Hyatt instead, although I was not aware of
that continental breakfast... now I am torn.

Not continental. Cooked to order. I always stay at the Embassy.

Additionally, I have requested more rooms be added to the Embassy Suites block for Thursday and Sunday nights. There were only a couple rooms left on either night, and they probably weren't the same room types that are available Friday and Saturday. When I get confirmation of the change, I will post here.

Still waiting on a booking report from the Hyatt...

the Embassy Suites cooked to order breakfast is probably the best breakfast I have had at a hotel in a long time.

The Hyatt room block is only 60% full as of today. There should still be plenty of King rooms available at the Hyatt, and there is still room in the block on Thursday on Sunday nights. Should anyone continue to have problems booking at the Hyatt, please post in this subforum or PM me directly, and I will look into it.

Thank you.

Just a word of advice folks: don't get too picky on the number of beds. I can attest that sleeping on the floor is not the end of the world - in fact, even though I worked Merch last year, and my feet and legs CRAVED a real bed, I toughed it out on the floor. With just my Megatokyo blanket and pillow. I was rooming with four other girls - one of whom had the rollaway - and could have asked for a bed, but decided that as long as I actually get a place to sleep, and a corner of my own to stash my stuff, it's all good.

I just called the Hyatt and the guy there told me the entire
hotel was sold out during those days (13th-16th). I told him
what you said about the room block being only 60% full, but
he insisted that they didn't have ANY rooms in the whole hotel
available for that weekend, in the block or outside of it. T__T

Just checking, but you made sure to make it clear that you're with the MAPS / Midwest Animation Promotion Society / Acen group, right?

That said, I just tried the Hyatt online again and it tells me that it's completely booked the 13-16 before I even choose any options regarding number of beds (just picked 4 people and hit "check availability").

Well, anyway, I think I'll stay with the Embassy. That breakfast sounds nice -- and not having to fight for the Hyatt elevators for once will be awesome. :D I just wanted to make a bit more information available -- it seems like there may be a problem somewhere...

Seems the Hyatt is suffering from the same issues as the DoubleTree and Embassy Suites. Thursday and Sunday night room types do not match the room types available Friday and Saturday nights (King beds). I have put in the request to change up the room types on the collar dates so booking will be available (online and on the phone) across the dates of the convention.

Sorry for the confusion and inconvenience. I will post here when they inform me the change has happened.

Additionally, Embassy Suites has added nights to the collar dates as well, so booking should now work there again, at least for King Suites. Embassy Suites is 80% full.

None of the other hotels are booked, but some are getting close. Do NOT heed this post. The Rosemont Hotel is one of my planned block releases by the end of the year. Please wait to reserve there until I open the block.

Hey Ken,

I originally booked up for 2 people for Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday and Sunday night....but more people are coming to my room, up to 4.

Does the number of Adults correspond to the number of keycards that will be available that weekend for that room, or is that just a fire marshall safety thing? The reason I ask is because I will need one keycard, and two of my friends will need keycards to get into the room (being on staff, who knows when I'll come and go)

Thanks!

I will add a note from personal experience. I usually book a room for/with 2 people, but ask for three cards so a friend has a "backup" for various reasons. The Hyatt has never given me a hassle on it.

I had to unfortunately book with the Hyatt last week with plans of staying at the Embassy. Amazing that the Embassy is all booked (I called and spoke to the reps twice and I check the website everyday just incase someone cancels...) when last year I booked a room there in February. I understand there's expected to be more people at acen this year, but to sell out 3 months faster is just....woah!

Anyways, luckily we were able to get a room with the Hyatt, and HOPEFULLY we'll be able to switch to the Embassy when someone cancels. We relied on that amenities Embassy provides.

imo I think a thread should have been put in "Official Announcements and Updates" when the blocks opened. I checked those religiously for the blocks to open (since that's where they were last year) and only happened on this thread when I was doing random searches throughout the thread (I figured 'operations' was a thread for the staff).

Actually, I got to book a room with the Embassy. But, I pay only two nights at the con rate and two other nights at the regular rate, so it looks like I'll need some roomies. ^^; But it's amazing that I lucked out. I thought it was 80% full, like you said. But...I got a king suite with only one bed and a sofa, so if I get a roomie, I'll have to pack a sleeping bag. Good thing they don't charge anything for one as long as you don't bring anymore than the max amount of guests (4 guests in one room, so I'd bring 3 people).

Oh yeah, and I called the Embassy, and they told me that the parking rate is the full price. I thought the parking rate changes with the con rate...or is it because I have to pay the regular rate for two nights?

And I'm surprised I'm posting again. I honestly thought I was banned.

Got the thing with the parking straightened out. The rate is as I have it posted.

Also, I was able to squeeze 15 more rooms out of the Embassy, so as of now, there are 15 more king suites available in the block. Get 'em while they're hot!

Can anyone confirm if the Hyatt is unavailable for 13th - 16th? The site says I can reserve from the 14th - 16th, but not with the 13th. I could give a call, but I don't want to bother if it's unavailable...

Edit: nevermind, I think I'll just go early on the 14th.

It is available on the 13th. You should be able to reserve at the convention rate that night.
