Last.fm is a website were you sign up for an account and it scrobbles ( another word for records) what you listen to to your profile.

You can then compare your music tastes with other people and find new music this way.

I bounce around with sites like that. The one that I like the most is aimi.net..you have to subscribe but you can listen to all the songs first before downloading. =) but thats if you want to do that.

The one I used to like the most was Pandora.com

Now its just full of ads...>.<

It's better. It doesn't have that whole "myspace" feel to it. For each user, it has a list of how many times you listened to certain artist or song for the week/3 months/6 months/Year/All-Time. It also will recommend certain artists to you to check out bases on what you have been listening to.

It is also compatible with xbox, and android phones. Kind of cool how it scans your music, and then recommends similar artists, or just those artists channels.

I was thinking about integrating this with my Amarok (as it integrates nicely, apparently, you don't need something running in the background) and getting back on last.fm....maybe I'll do that today when I get home.

Always looking for new music, which is why I like Pandora. It's like having my own personal DJ going "HEYLISTENTOTHIS"

I have Pandora and Last.fm apps on my phone but I really hardly use either one. I tend to stick to what's in my iTunes library. I'm thinking of getting rid of Last.fm on my computer, I installed it but every time I open iTunes it opens and annoys me.

Knitchick, you should really let it scan your music. It has some really good barely know artists that it will recommend. Unfortunately you have to let it run in the background.

Yeah but it bogs down my system and really bogs down iTunes. Besides, I have a big enough collection and I can't keep my entire collection right now because I only have my laptop, so I don't *need* new artists recommended.
