Hey, anyone know any anime or video game characters with these traits?

Requirements:
-Male
-Short dark hair (Doesn't necessarily have to be black, just close to black)
-Katana or any similar type of sword (No Zweihanders)
-Looks between 14 and 18 (They don't have to be that age, just look like it)
-Costume isn't too over-the-top (So no fully-armored characters, nothing too colorful/flamboyant. Basically, something affordable)
-Please, no Naruto characters (Not really a fan, plus I hate Sasuke)
-Nothing too obscure

I was considering Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho, and maaaaaybe Katsushiro from Samurai 7, but I'm looking for more suggestions.

*UPDATE* I'm starting to get into Bleach, so Bleach characters are welcome now.

oh, sorry, I just thought from the short hair thingy ( most guys have short(er) hair already ) you were a girl, I did not try to check XD

I would say Jin from Samurai Champloo but you said short hair and easy outfit :0

Oh, that's okay.

Well, to me, Jin looks like he has short hair with a long extension on the back. If he looked younger, I'd probably do it, with him being my favorite Champloo character and all.

A generic samurai kimono doesn't look all that hard either. He doesn't have the Takeda crest in the manga, anyway.

But I probably won't just because I look too young.

How about Squall Leonhart of FFVII? I don't how "affordable" his look would be though....but he mostly fits your bill.

I was considering Luffy at some point, but I haven't seen that many One Piece episodes, so does he ever get a katana or katana-like sword at any point?

And I know what crossplay is, but it just doesn't work for guys unless they're THAT desperate for attention.

Sorry, he looks way too young. Plus, he's my least favorite character in the show.

Hm, maybe I should get FF8. It always did look interesting...

The costume doesn't look too hard, except for the white furry stuff on the jacket.

Sorry if I sound picky, but these just aren't doing it for me. Except maybe Squall. I have time between now and ACen, so I can probably at least get through a good portion of FF8 with that time.

Look for someone in Samurai Deeper Kyo.

Or go to wikipedia and look up Samurai anime, wikipedia the anime and look at the character lists and google the character to see pictures of them. There. Problem solved.

Thanks, I saw a pic from Samurai Deeper Kyo. It's about samurai, so I can get into this anime pretty easily...

It's just narrowed down to Hiei, Squall, and Kyoshiro Mibu. I'll decide that myself...

I like Yahiko as well but it seems his character age was 10, but there are older pictures of him, hard for me to find at work.

I've only caught a few dozen episodes as on TV, not the "real" (uneditied) ones, but you are right. I don't recall any time he had a katana-like sword. Maybe he will "borrow" one of Zolo/Zorro's someday...

True... you do have some time. I've known people to whip something together in a matter of days.

You could also just go to google images or youtube and search "anime" in general, or FF, or even just video games and let things take you where they may. Check the manga section at library or bookstore and see if anything catches your eye. And maybe bump this thread once in a while to see if anyone else has had a brainstorm down the road.

Thanks guys, this can be closed now. I've decided to go with Kyo(shiro) from Samurai Deeper Kyo. (They share a body, so I can easily pull off both) He can do whatever he wants, because he's voice by DAN GREEEEEEEN!!!

Look online for the anime character database. You will find tons of characters with your traits. =) Then you dont have to weed through the crappy characters we suggest and find ones you like.
