I'm just going to point out that, while the vast majority of what is at ACen is anime related, there are still a good number of not-anime related cosplays out there. While one can easily make the point that Final Fantasy, and therefore KH, is anime, I'm still waiting for explanations on all of the Harry Potter, Captain Jack Sparrow and Marvel Comic (mostly the Joker) cosplays I've seen the past few years.
Besides that, let me just point out that this is an acon IN AMERICA. There is no magical teleportation device that allows Rosemont to magically be in Japan (although that would be awesome). ACen, at least the way I see it, is a chance for western otaku to gather and celebrate their fandom. It is about western otaku culture, so it's basically a blend of Japanese culture and western culture.
Btw, to those of you who are talking about unlucky numbers in Japan, you're forgetting 49 >.>

Cosplay 2013: Mitsuki Saya (Black Cat), Ryougi Shiki (Kara no Kyoukai), Kusanagi Motoko (Ghost in the Shell: Arise) maybe?
