Yeah I dont know how legit this is, but hopefully there will be more articles backing this one up later today.

But wow... Did not expect this one, maybe they'll also do P4 on the PSP.

oh well I love it! From what im looking at, a possible choosing of genders? Or a new female interest for the main character (hopefully the latter)

From what little I've read the female is a new Main character and you have the ability to choose, but then again we'll see when more info is released.

I suppose if there's any major changes besides the protagonist being a girl I might give this one a look. I sort of find it lazy though for Atlus to just remake Persona 3 again. I'm kind of surprised no SMT games have come to any next gen consoles. I'll keep this on the radar as well as SMT Strange Journey for the DS.

Persona 5 has supposedly been announced for the PS3. I've yet to hear it confirmed from a reliable source though.

Hm, I guess Atlus must have abandoned making any kind of follow up to Nocturne. Still, hearing news that Persona 5 might exist is pretty awesome.

P3P localization is now official. English release scheduled for mid-July 2010, on UMD and Playstation Store.

I'm not too enthusiastic about the fact that this will be the third edition of Persona 3 in English. It does seem kind of excessive. Just having two versions on PS2 was much more than I expected...

But at the same time, I know that I generally prefer portable games to home console games (unless I'm mainly interested in multiplayer experiences). I'm intrigued by the ability to play as a girl as well as a guy (though not as intrigued as Kaho Yukimura is in this rather amusing LJ entry: http://kaho-yukimura....com/39039.html ). And I'm also interested in the full party control that this version will offer.

Other things that may help me purchase one more version of Persona 3:

- If it's portable-friendly. Portable games shouldn't force the player to wade through loading screens and long cinemas. (I hear loading in P3P is minimal, and cinema has been scaled down.) And unless the designers want the player to be very anxious, they shouldn't force people to survive long combat sequences in between places to save the game.

- If there is an option for original Japanese voices. I have no idea if this will happen on the UMD version. Would be nice on the PS Store version, but who knows at this point...

I have no problem with long battles and cinemas. I just ask that if you're going to do them, you offer some kind of instant save slot. Basically you save and quit anywhere and when you load up the instant save, it gets deleted from memory so you can't abuse it.

I'd honestly rather have a P4:FES type than P3P, but it is what it is. I dunno, from what I've seen, the major thing they seem to be pushing is to play as a female lead and considering Persona uses a silent protagonist, I really could care less.

I'm more interested in Persona 5. Which I think is probably coming. I'd bet Xbox 360/PS3 since that is how most games go nowadays, but who knows? After all 4 went to PS2 and that was already well after Xbox 360 and PS3 were around.

Yeah, I've still yet to see anything concrete on P5, but rumors are saying it'll be a PS3 release.

I'm sure excited for Persona 3 Portable! I've known about this for the longest time and I'm not ashamed to admit that the real reason I want this game is to date Shinjiro and Akihiko! Did you know that...

I don't technically own a PSP but my brother borrowed one from a friend of his that never used it like... a year ago, and then I borrowed it from my brother, and then I bought a ton of games for it, so... I figure by commonlaw it's mine now.

That would be my guess. The only Atlus games you've seen on the XBox thus far have tended to stay away from their flagship titles (i.e. SMT games), and I'm not sure how the few games they've released on 360 have sold. Typically though they've been games I've not heard of at all other than the e-mails I get from Atlus themselves.

This game is pretty awesome so far. The little shortcuts have streamlined things a bit, but I do miss actually seeing character models on screen outside of Tartarus. Combat is so much better now that I can control my teammates and actually GUARD.

dude, atlus is TINY in comparison to squeenix. they SHOULD milk the surprise mega-success of persona 3.
it'll create more revenue, i.e. monies, so they can make more awesome games.
atlus games tend to be more dependably good or at least more unique than square's titles, so
whatever helps them stay afloat and make more is great, i say!

They're still skipping both Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. There is no excuse. Even Squeenix isn't that bad. They could have been porting both Persona 2 games (possibly on the same UMD) to buy some time and make the Persona 3 port better, perhaps even include the FES content. Do they truly doubt Persona 3's staying power that much...? If it was as good as all the fans claim, there's no rush to port it...

I've heard pretty good things about the port overall. The addition of a new main character isn't probably worth the cost if you already own the PS2 version, but if you haven't played it already, this is one of the best RPGs out there.

But you're right, I would personally rather see P2 as well.

I like what they took from P4 and added it into P3P, such as more save points, working part time at the cafe to earn money and boost social stats, not to mention not feeling forced to drag yourself through Tartarus to a save point before you can leave it. I think the port is damn good IMO. I am surely enjoying the P3 Port more than the original P3 on the PS2.

And you never know, maybe their plotting P2's release with both games released as one and their taking their time to sweeten the pot for when they release it.

Actually, it's fairly interesting the changes when you play as the female character. Most of the social links you made with characters as a male are no longer available so they made new characters for you to have social links with. Obviously it also opens up more social links such as now you can have social links with ALL the members of SEES rather than just the girls. Not to mention some of the choices in conversations you get to make are different as well and lead to some amusing results in dialogue.

If you liked the story and played it on the PS2 and wouldn't mind playing it again then I would totally suggest picking up P3P and playing as the female lead for a twist on the experience

I am quite happy with my purchase and I DID play the PS2 version first.

I kinda wish there was some way to keep some kind of anime cutscenes, but I know that has to be impossible with the new main character. The part where she summons her persona for the first time and where Fuuka summons hers are drastically less cool now.

Oh I won't argue against buying the game again. Honestly if I had the extra cash I very well may as well. It is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Unfortunately between that and buying something new, I need new toys on my limited budget. What would have been cool though is if they released it last April. That way you could theoretically play through the story in real time as the game starts in April 2009.
