Here's this years thread for questions about your registration for ACen the 13th! Instead of having a mass amount of threads with one question in each one and random questions in the middle of them we find it easier to answer every question if you post them in a single thread. Our reg team will be checking this forum daily to answer all of your questions and concerns! Remember you can always email us at Registration@ACen.org but forum posted questions will normally be answered faster.

Never post personal information! And remember a reg staff member will NEVER ask for your account password (we never need them and we can't even look them up).

Please do not guess at answers. If I see someone giving the wrong answer I will ask as I always have for people who don't know the answer to not reply. We have 5 reg staff dedicated to the forum and email who know the policies inside and out who will be able to answer your questions. And if they can't they ask me or the department head If we can't answer then your question probably doesn't have anything to do with reg So please please please please don't answer questions if you're not 100% sure. This goes for reg staff too! If you aren't one of those 5 people and you don't know the answer 100% sure of it please don't reply. You have a staff title and attendees will think you're right even when you're wrong. So be careful when answering! Wrong info can really mess up a registration!

Answers to the most commonly asked questions

COMPLIMENTARY BADGES!!!

If you're expecting a staff member to comp your badge ask them before you register. We do not refund badges to become comp badges. If you're a panelist find out this years rules (if you pay or not, get a comp or not, can get refunded if you pay then get accepted, etc) before you register. Same goes for every other type of free badge we give out. The only acception to this is normally contest winners for only certain contests where the prize is a refunded badge.

BADGE MAILING!

Badge mailing option is 2 dollars this year. You must select it for every badge you want mailed. (your group members and children!) That's $2 -per- badge. Badge mailing is planned to begin in January in waves in no specific order and will end early April after mailing option is cut off. Mailed badges are fancier than the at con version and this year will be super awesome! You can pick up your lanyard and program books at the Registration section of the convention during ACen.

REFUNDS!!!

Badges are non transferable (cannot give to a friend if you decide not to go) and non refundable. By completing your registration you agree to our terms of the badge. If a badge is caught being transferred to a person who's name is not on the badge both people will be removed from the convention for 1+ years.

CHILD BADGES!!!

The child must be that age by the date of ACen to receive the discount. You may request our Child badge for your child under 12 or stick with the regular badge. The child badge difference is only it says Child instead of Full and is a more child friendly color (orange or yellow etc).

WILL CALL!!!

Will Call is pre-paid badge pickup for those who did not select mailing or registered after April 1st. There is not a Will Call phone number. Please stop emailing me asking "what's the number for will call" Thanks guys!

BADGE NAME/GROUP NAME!!!

Above the bar code there is a spot where we put your badge name. Like... "Naruto" or "SilverMoon". We had over 500 "Full Weekend Badge" "Child Badge" "Sunday Badge" etc.. This is where you choose a fun nickname for yourself. Or just put your name. If you use a none G rated name we reserve the right to change it to whatever we want. For the past two years we've had the fail club. Where the inappropriate name was changed to some sort of failure. This goes for group names as well. We had a group named "I failed my group name" this year. If you don't want to be that person please choose your name wisely. If you aren't sure if it's inappropriate then feel free to EMAIL us. Don't post it on the forum in case it is inappropriate. We will reply ASAP and let you know if it's yes or no.

okay I'm a group leader again this year but one of my group is suppose to get a comp for working as a gopher last year. What is suppose to do. Could she still sign up with the group for prereg (getting the fancy smancy badge) and only pay for the shipping or what? Thanks in advance

Complimentary badges cannot be members of groups unfortunately. She will be marked in our system as a comp badge and I believe able to pay the 2 dollars for mailing. We will need to look at the system and see if that is possible. Thank you for bringing this up.

It says the Early Bird is September 1st to September 30th for $40. When are the Road show registration dates? Or are those not announced?

The Roadshow price is for when we sell registrations at other conventions. Currently we will be at Chicago Comic Con August 6th-9th selling registrations at the roadshow rate. Other conventions should be announced soon. This price remains the same for roadshows even if the roadshow is a month before ACen.

That's kind of bogus. Mailing went up $.50 and the early bird badge went up $5. That's a gallon of gas in 2010 or half a gallon in Europe or Germany.

Costs go up, and the convention needs to expand. Mailing is actually a deal for 2 dollars compared to the cost on our end. It is as cheap as we can make it for you guys. We didn't do an all around increase in pricing and we still made it possible to receive a 35 dollar badge. Considering it's 3-4 days of concerts, dances, famous guests, and service I think 35 to 55 dollars is a deal for the amount of fun and activity you get at the con.

Feel lucky, considering that ACen is one of the largest anime cons in the country, yet is the same price or cheaper than most small cons.

Where is the extra money going? Is it something specific, or have the costs for departments all around increased?

I was wondering. I have a few people in my group who have asked me about the Masquerade Ball on Friday. When the early bird registration goes up for September, will we have the option of buying a masquerade ball ticket or is there some other process for acquiring the masquerade ball ticket this year?

as far as I've heard the charity ball is not happening this year. I don't know if they are replacing it with something else though. If you're talking about the free ticket masq this question should be asked in the programing/events forum.

Actually I feel Anime Central is one of the best cons for my money. I have three main conventions I go to: Acen, Wizard World (or Comic-con this year) and Chicago TARDIS. Acen and WW are around the same cost, TARDIS is $75. Of the three Acen is the best value, considering it's 24 hour programming (WW and ChiTARDIS shut down in the early evening, neither typically goes later than 9 pm), there's about 30 things to choose from at any one time (ChiTARDIS? 3 panel options at any one time), and there's something for everyone. I've only paid for Wizard World *once* out of the four times I've gone because really, all there is to do is shop. Acen offers so much more!

When I was describing ACen to comic con attendees at our booth you wouldn't believe how many people were SHOCKED to find out we run 24/7 for our 3 days. We got a bunch of new people register just because of how awesome we sounded. People asked why wizard world prices are the same as ours and we aren't cheaper. It's because we run for more hours along with other things.

We will be entering the forms when the system goes live in September. I can't promise Sept 1st the account will be updated/created but it should be by mid Sept. Everyone who registered at Comic Con should have received a little slip of paper that says confirmation. Keep that, it's the same as your online confirmation. And a reminder, mailing is going out in January this year. If you did not select mailing you can email us and ask for it to be added to your account for the $2 mailing cost. If you decide to change your badge name you can email us by January 1st to get it changed(there is no fee for this). Once badges are printed we will not change badge names. Also remember if the badge name is not appropriate we will change it to something more appropriate. Offensive language and terms will be changed. Don't be a member of the fail club!

If you registered for ACen the 13th at ACen 2009 the accounts will be updated/created at the same time as the Chicago Comic Con accounts as stated above.

I pre-reg'd at Comic Con, and want to change the name thats on my badge; Do I have to wait till September when Earlybird starts, or could I email now?

You can email now but the forms aren't put into the system yet so it won't be changed until September when your form is entered.
