For ACen, you must buy a badge to access activities, such as panels, main programming events and the dealer's room. Full 3-day and single day badges are available. Pre-registration will open in September or badges can be purchased at the actual con. I would recommend pre-registering and having your badge mailed. It's cheaper and will eliminate you having to wait in line.

Once you get your badge, if you want to attend any of the concerts or see the Cosplay Masq, you have to get a ticket from the Info Booth (don't worry, they're free).
The tickets are to provide a head count for seating--you know, what with fire code and all that...

Once pre-registration opens, prices will be listed. There are different prices, depending on by which date you register and pay.

When is the best time to get your badge (like the middle of pre-registration, or what), and whats the most amount of money you've spent on a badge?

It's best to register and pay for your badge within the first few months that registration opens. That's when the pricing is cheapest. However, if you don't register until the last minute, you still won't pay more than $50 for a full badge.

Ok we plan to open registration September 1st. This will be the cheapest price for badges other than our road show prices which are normally the same price as Septembers price. Road shows are held at other conventions where you can go to our booth and buy a ticket. We suggest you purchase your ticket in September and REMEMBER to select mailing and pay the extra cost (1.50 in 2009) to have it sent to you. Mailing badges are fancier than at con badges and they're going to be super cool this year! We had a 1% failure rate for mail last year (about 100 people) so it's better than ever! and if you don't get it due to whatever mix up we have a booth at con JUST for picking up a mailed badge that didn't get to you so you still have no line wait time. We plan to mail out badges in January this year. The price for September has not yet been announced.

If you pre-register for con passes, obviously you wont get the program books, but where would you pick them up at Con? Info Booth? Like where this_chick said you get the Masquerade tickets.
