I just thought it was a fun topic to start and figured its never too early to start getting pumped up for next year's convention. So, anyone beginning to prepare for ACen 2010? I've already gotten alot of plushies done and have made a final list of what I'm bringing, which is WAY more than I usually have done. This is our third year and I think we're really starting to get the hang of things!

I started back in 2002, but I feel it's time I moved out of the Alley. I feel that the layout is too confining from the simple table, backdrop, and banner format. (and last May, a vinyl floor) I decided to try the exhibitor's hall for a more customized look to show off as many of my artistic talents as possible. I will likely have plushies, I will probably have more animated clips to show, I will definitely have more titles and books. The hope is to expand the expectation of art to be more than just the usual formats that have become almost uniform to artists that show at Anime Central.

Haha, I'm pumped, too! :3 I only wish it wasn't so far away.
But, then again, it's the looong wait that makes me SUPER
excited when con time finally rolls around. The excitement
just builds and builds until then. XDD I, for one, am NOT going
to make the same mistake I did last year by starting my costume
a month before. Knowing how slowly I get things done, I'm gonna
start WELL ahead of time so I'm not scrambling and stressing out
hardcore the night before the con. I just wanna relax and get
pumped up the days leading up to Thursday when we leave.

If I make it into the ACen artist alley it will be my first time there, I mostly do cons much closer to home, but am looking to branch out and do some more bigger cons =) Hope I can figure out how to get a space, haha. There will probably be 2-4 more cons for me before ACen but I'm already looking forward to it, hope I get to go!

I know the feeling, there. 2010 will be my first AA if I can manage grabbing a table in time. I'm worried that I won't make enough prints, or might make too many prints. I've got a DeviantArt account (two, actually, which will soon turn into links in my signature so that I might hopefully gain some more watchers ) and I have a few loyal watchers, but that doesn't guarantee anything.

Fan art seems key, but I definitely want to mix in some original work as well (I'm supposing less copies of the originals as opposed to fan-based work). I'm haunting the forums and ACen homepage hoping for info on getting a table because in the past years I always seem to miss it or forget about it.

Currently, I'm deciding on which fandoms to go after as far as fan-art goes, but I think I have a pretty good idea now. I've got to think about pricing, materials, and layouts as well. (Can yaoi be sold in AA if we card for under-age buyers or no? I need to know this before deciding to draw any for sale purposes *lol*).

Yaoi/Yuri in and of itself is fine all around. If there is anything explicit, then you would want to keep it covered/out of reach and yes, ID before allowing someone to view/purchase it.

Good deal. I may not do anything explicit, but if I do, I definitely want to know all the rules before I try and sell something I shouldn't.

I think I'm just going to stick with shounen ai, unless, I get an actual yaoi request ahead of time and whatnot. I think I might go for a videogame theme and then two animes....

eh, still confused on which ones though. Gurren Lagann seems like a good one to draw for AA. ;O Idk.

everyone will be drawing Gurren Lagann, Naruto, and whatever else is very popular in main stream. I'd personally like to see someone draw some of the oldschool stuff.. Gundams, DBZ, Tenchi, etc.

Got some plans and prep for 2010 but nothing solid yet. I'll probably revise my MacGyver'd PVC pipe shelf hanging-rack thing, so it is a little sturdier.

For any new artists, remeber that your artwork is a big part of the alley experience, but so is presentation! I think a table with some good easels or artwork displayed in a nice rack/display system catches the eye a lot better than a flat table.

We are starting to get ready. We are really excited to make this our third year. For the past two years I have felt horrible because when I get my artist the finalized script for our comic she only has a month to a month and a half to get it done. With both of us going to school full time it usually gets pushed back with giving her about 2-3 weeks to do the whole issue. I've been hearing it from her, like I should, but we will definitly be ready this year. Our comic will look a lot better too. We're actually hoping on having plushies this year too. Just have to see what happens.

-squee!- I've already begun preparing my costume for next year. Black Waltz 2 and 7 from '9' (movie hasn't even been released yet...wh00t!). I was going to be doing a plague doctor costume for the hell of it, but I think I'll get a better response by sticking to fandoms rather than history. XD

Sooner or later once I can get all my people, were going to start practicing for the Masquerade.

Man, it already seems like we're gonna have a huge variety of talents...though with them not selling the half tables, seems like it's going to fill up alot faster than it did last year. Which was still really darn fast! XD
