I have quite a few volumes of manga that I want to sell (ones I've already read and didn't care for, so they're not worth having). I live near Chicago, Illinois. Are there any places that will buy used manga?

No, only in English (I got them from stores like Borders and Barnes and Noble a while back). I think I remember seeing a website called Craigslist, but I'm not sure how that works.

Craigslist is basically like the classified section of a newspaper, but online. You advertise you want to trade or sell something. For instance, you put an ad saying "Selling manga in the Chicago area, $10 a piece. Email me at blah@blah.com"

Be careful when you meet some of these people off craigslist though. My friend is also trying to sell manga and when he meet with these people (he picked a public place) they told him they'd only give him money if he went into the alley with them. My friend left with his manga, but there are evil people on craigslist looking for manga. So be careful.

Maybe you can look around for used book stores. I have one by my house.

best bet so you won't met anyone creepy. Craiglist's isn't a good place imo, you have to have ALOT of trust in the seller/buyer...

Oh, I thought it was just like an online website where you just ship it to them by mail. Would Ebay be better? I don't want to auction them, just sell (I did see a buying option there). How reliable is it?

I have a lot of titles I want to sell.

And with Ebay, I guess the buyer is loyal if the seller is.

eBay could be better. There's a "buy now" option if you don't want to auction it.

i tried selling the first 3 copies of VAGABOND on ebay with now luck.
ebay sucks because they charge you to list anything.

I would probably just stick to advertising your manga here. It's free and none of us are murderers or rapists... I think.

still, in these harsh economic times, i will probably have to expand and pick up a second job.

Hmmm.... There is a place called Half Price Books. They will buy your manga and then sell it in there store. But I'm just don't know if there is one around you, thats all.

I don't think amazon really "buys" the manga. You just put it up for sale, and wait for someone to buy it from you.

Other than selling my mangas here, I think Amazon.com will be my second option. I've bought stuff there, so I should be able to sell my mangas there with no problems.

Also, there are a few of those Half Price Books stores in Illinois. They're kinda far from me, but not so far that it would be a waste driving out there. Are they reliable? Like will they buy mangas, or do they only buy regular books?

I was at one a long time ago that would buy movies, games, and even magazines. Manga should fit in (there were some copies of Shonen Jump there, but this was before it was published stateside mind you).

I don't think I'll be selling any of my mangas here any time soon, so I need another alternative in case nobody here wants any. So Amazon.com and Half Price Books are good choices?

this place is really good, they buy pretty much everything, and while your there you can buy even more.
