IRT were fantastic this year. Well staffed and just everywhere. I didn't even run into the usual problems with large groups gathering at the top of the escalators and stoping traffic wich was a constant issue the previous years. It was as though even if I didn't see an IRT in the vicinity at the moment, their precence was somehow fealt and people behaved themselves. I also overheard absolutely no complaints or sob stories from congoers about 'rude IRT' during the con. I didn't think it was posible for things to go this smoothly... usualy people complain no matter how hard the IRT try, but this year, most congoers seemed pretty happy and cooperative. Awsome job guys.

IRT was far better than previous years. A lot of bad problems were weeded out of the system and it was noticed. However, they still weren't completely organized and there's still room for some improvement.

IRT seemed to know what they were doing this year, and it seemed like there was more communication :3

IRT was better this year than last as I only had one big issue and two minor ones.
My big issue was with IRT member Saphire yelling at my group not to yell over the railing when we weren't doing anything. We never yelled and here we are getting ripped into for no justifiable reason. If IRT has to respond to an incident then they should know first who is responsible for said incident.
Minor issues first it would be nice if all of IRT were on the same page as I saw some tell people one thing and others tell them something different.
Second, if they need to put their hands on someone to get their attention then please do it in a soft manner. I saw one come up behind a regular attendee and grab the shoulder in a jerking motion. I know if that happened to me then someone would probably got hit just out of reflex. I stated this last one for safety of all parties.

Very good but pleeeassseee for the love of god when you have a huge line of people that is already in a nice line, make sure it stays organized besides yelling out random points for people to run towards wildly while we all can move back while still being in line...its not a big deal...If the organization of lines can be better than previous years then kudos you guys and thats all that I really have to say ♥

IRT was very amazing and I'm very satisfied. I'm not just saying this because my friend was IRT last year and will be next year, and she also took me with her when she was helping look for one of the 82357046357916345 missing child alerts on Saturday.
IRT gets another round of applause from me for dealing with so many Amber Alerts in such a short period of time. (I heard 9 in 3 hours)
I did get yelled at to get off the street while waiting in line for the masqurade while I was still on the sidewalk, though.
I also was yelling at an IRT member for apologizing to me for not letting me through to the Soap Bubble with a few of my friends. He didn't have to apologize! He was just doing his job. :3
So my heart goes out to the awesome IRT members! You guys rock!

I was highly impressed with I.R.T and I really hope next year they blow me away all over again!

I gave them 9/10, only because (and I'm sure people who have seen my posts are tired of me bringing this up) I did see I.R.T members leaving the VIP Suite Room 2040, the room across from my sister's and I that seemed to refuse to shut their door and decided that it was okay to have a party and leave the door open for the entire night. =/

I don't think I.R.T members were a part of that room, but I think they were merely friends with some of the staff members of that room. Or maybe they were actually there to tell them to quiet down... since the following night, there was no noise coming from the room! Though the door remained open, oddly enough. lolol

I had a pretty good IRT experience this year
But every year I always find one or two of them to chat up for a good long time xD Last year not as much but this year they were really friendly. Also, more organized than last year. Of course there were still kinks which is why I didn't give a perfect ten. It would take an incredible show from them to get a ten from me but an eight or a nine shows that they did well above expectations.

Overall, the IRT Operatives for Day/Mid shift in the Convention Center were superlative at the very least. I'd give those particular operatives a 10/10, but IRT as a whole would undoubtedly receive a 9/10 from myself. There's always room for improvement (as was said beforehand), but I am notably impressed with how IRT performed this year.

I agree that things were much better in 2009 than they were in 2008, but there were still a number of problems, most of which revolve around the astounding number of volunteers that are allowed to work for IRT. I'm sorry, but how can I respect the authority of a man who is obviously going to go back to his room and smoke a joint as soon as his shift is over? Or someone who looks like they are anorexic. Appearances may not be everything, but for a security force it makes a big difference. Attitude as well. The IRT members that are actually full time security guards actually look like they can handle the job. The man in charge of IRT (I feel bad, but I can't remember his name) looks like he can handle any problem at the con and is really nice about it. I wish there were more IRT like him, polite with an air of authority.

Well without proof you can't just assume that someone is doing drugs.

And your opinion should be respected because you apparently have a beef with appearances? I'm sorry, but although I see where you're going with this, this comment still sounds incredibly judgmental. In fact, some might take it to mean that you believe that anyone who doesn't fit the bill for a police force shouldn't be on IRT. That's the impression that could be gleaned from this comment, anyway.

Besides, the two descriptions you gave? How exactly do you come to those conclusions? Someone could just as easily be tired or feeling ill while working - particularly given the crazyinsane hours IRT folks work.

It's not best to make assumptions about drug use, or anything else for that matter, just based on someone's appearance. That's extremely judgemental.

And while you're entitled to your opinion, the hiring for IRT and training in '09 was much more strict and in-depth than previous years. Most incidents I've heard about this year were isolated, pertaining to a single bad IRT member. IRT as a whole was drastically more helpful and professional. If you ever have a problem with a specific member, remember their callsign (the name on their orange tag) or their appearance and report the incident.

Particularly when one of us EMRT put one of the IRT people down or another staff member which I did last year (2009) a few times.

If you're concerned about the appearances of people - when a great deal of people at Acen already look like stoners to begin with, you probably shouldn't attend this con.

Just a thought.
