Hooray hooray!! I just got a call from the Hyatt and the executive guy tells me I have to pay $2000 for what my roommates did to our room. (Hair dye everywhere). I seriously doubt that the repairs would be that much. Yes, the handicap rails have to be replaced cuz they have dye on them, but they can't be $2000! I'll go in there and fix everything myself!

The hotel holds all the aces here. Pay the bill off quickly as possible. The longer you delay the more your credit rating suffers. Trying to fight the fee in court will cost you more than $2000.

Wow. This is why you make sure you know who your roomates are. Get their information and make them pay or split it. Your equally at fault since you let that go on. In my room that would NEVER happen.

This is why hair dying is extremely discouraged. It's important your roomates are aware not to do this as well. NEVER EVER DYE YOUR HAIR AT THE HOTEL OR CONVENTION CENTER AND NEVER LET ANYONE ELSE DO IT EITHER. In the future, room with people who you know personally and can trust. That, or make sure you have multiple forms of communication with all roomates (IM, cell, address, email, etc).

If it were me, I'd figure out which one of your room mates had their hair dyed and go after them for the money. Granted your name is on the room so the Hyatt is turning to you, but you can go after your roommates because that's a lot of money for someone to pay on their own.

Don't harass them, it'll only make a bad situation worse. As the person who's name is on the room, you are responsible for the other people staying in the room and making sure they behave. I would get your parents involved and let them know that the people responsible are blowing you off.

Thanks guys for all the support. My family and I are going to press charges against them. My friend is trying to find pictures from when she visited our hotel room (during the time they were dying their hair), so we have quite alot of proof.

I do admit that I contributed to the mess. I did dye my hair that weekend. Black. The same black they used. But somehow, the walls looked just about the same when I finished.
