irt was great, i mean the only thing that bothered me was the yelling to get on the sidewalk, but i couldnt since the soapbubble line was there. then the other irt who tried to make me get to the end of the line when i wasn't going to soapbubble. that only annoyed me abit actually

there were good on the new "no yaoi or yuri paddles' rule. i bought one, and i means seriously, i blinked, turned from the dealer table, and was told to take it to my room/car.

still need to be educated on the location for photoshoots.

but it took one minute to get my sword okay'd

they stopped me when some one had broken a glass on the stairs, which was cool because i had no shoes on!!!

so thanks irt. good job!

I actually had that happen once when I was walking outside to the convention center along the drive in front of the hotel. I happened to be a few steps behind an IRT guy, but as it was, I was a little sore from setup on Thursday and tired to boot. Sooo I ended up not really paying attention to the fact that I wasn't on the sidewalk (which, to be fair, is really the safest and most courteous way to go - after all, non-con traffic is always moving along the roads and front drive, so better safe than sorry). When he noticed me, he said in a firm but courteous tone, "Stay on the sidewalk when you can," which I promptly acknowledged and stepped right up onto it. I wish I caught his name; I say thanks for being polite about reminding a tired but dutiful staffer, *lol*

I will note, however, those who might make it a little difficult for this to actually happen. Twenty minutes later, when I was returning to the hotel, I was alongside a woman with a stroller...and the path was blocked by a group of congoers who had completely blocked the sidewalk while chatting amongst themselves. <_< Remember this for next year or future cons, guys, the sidewalk is not a good place to stop for conversation.

As for the Soap Bubble line...yeah. I know there's usually issues with managing that line and the surrounding traffic year after year. I won't attack IRT for trying to do both jobs at once, but I don't blame people for being just a mite irritated at being told this when there is virtually no sidewalk surface to walk on.

I thought most of the IRT were cool. Most of them were nice and new what they were talking about and if they didn't they would usually say sorry. And they were more then willing to give hugs to pedobear and dance with him at the rave.

I always appreciate IRT. I worked security in college as a part time job and I know how horrible it can be. This year, IRT was the most professional I've ever seen them and that just reflects so positively on the con as a whole. I didn't have any run-ins with IRT this year except for early friday morning. I found a badge with a key attached to it that someone had dropped. I returned it to an IRT member immediately and he was bright and cheery. I know this isn't the worst of problems, but it's always good to be greeted with a smile and seen as a guest and not a burden. Thanks, IRT!

IRT was FABULOUS this year!

I was one of the artists in Artist Alley (Katsuyama Studios), and I had someone reached behind one fo the blue convention curtains and tried to steal one of my collector's plates that I hand-painted. I didn't even notice it at first because I was talking to fellow con-goers, but one of my studio members saw it, stopped it, and started to chase the guy down. IRT was right there when my studio member shouted for them and tried to help chase the would-be-thief down. And they were absolutely wonderful afterwards in patrolling the aisle behind Artist Alley to make sure nothing else like that happened.

Also, the morning of the first day of the con was really stressful for a lot of reasons, and a pair of IRT staffers came up to me and said, "You look like you need a hug," and hugged me. That truly helped make my morning.

So in short, thank you IRT for doing a really awesome job this year, and for being so wonderful to the artists in Artist Alley and the Art Show!

Lots of Smiles,
Akane Katsuyama (Katsuyama Studios)

I sincerely appreciated IRT at the con. Every IRT member I came across was polite, helpful and friendly. I can imagine how burned out each of you must be after all the work during the con, so thank you for everything!

One particular IRT member whom I recall seeing regularly was (I believe) Hawkeye? I apologize if I have the name wrong, but he was an "everywhere" guy. Very helpful and nice overall.
Decided not to bring a signature book due to lack of interest.

Thanks to whatever IRT restrained the guy who threw his beer at me. I was too emotional to get your badge name or even really remember what you look like, but I was the girl with the pink hair in the smoking section Saturday night. Thank you so much!

This was only my second time at ACen, but I must say that IRT handled things very well, especially with the long lines for soap bubble. All of IRT that I spoke with were courteous and helpful. Great job to you all!

Much love for you guys. I haven't been to many cons, but I have to say that every IRT person I encountered was friendly and courteous and awesome and knew they were there to help people have fun, unlike another con where several of the security staff members decided their powers were to be used to make peoples lives tougher. I kind of want to run around in an IRT vest one day :D

The only thing that could have made IRT better is if you guys gave out pie. OK, maybe that's a lie. I could go with cake, too.

The stampede to hold back the Soap Bubble line that broke through the barricade was THE coolest thing I have ever seen at Acen.

I wish I could have seen callsigns to give y'all individual kudos but you know who you were! I was one of those cheering you on from the Special Needs office.

I'm just super excited I got to meet Irish and Rabbi *finally* after talking to them on here :D

Heh. My only direct interaction with IRT this year was on Thursday night after my friend and I picked up our program guides. I had stopped outside in the hall to put my stuff in my backpack and an IRT came over to ask us if we were waiting for anyone, and if not that we should move along because the center wanted to keep people from loitering in the main entrance hall that night. Really nice and straightforward about it tho'.

I was still in shock at seeing a practically non-existant registration line at the time, and everything was so quiet and smooth, so I gave a compliment to him about how I could already tell there had been some good changes put in place this year as we were heading out. I think he either didn't understand me, or he was an IRT vetran who was unnerved about the laid back quietness of everything as well... kinda' like he was waiting for the zombie apocalypse to happen or something.

The guy at the table Saturday morning was wonderfully responsive when we told him about a situation up in the hallway on our floor. Took off running. Good man. =) I noticed a lot less with the yelling to clear hallways and keep things moving this year, too - I understand why IRT frequently does have to yell, though, so I'm not sure if it was more good-natured IRT this year, or a more well-behaved crowd? Maybe a crowd is more willing to behave when faced with good-natured IRT. At any rate, professional without sounding harsh. Very nice.

Also, some IRT person made one of my friends' day when he went to get his nine giant fluffy tails checked out, and not only was told that they were okay because they were soft... but apparently whoever was inspecting them then cuddled up against one of them and hugged it, which he thought was bizarrely cute. XD

I second that!! One second we were talking in Special Needs and Compliance and we hear a loud countdown, then a massive thundering stampede. We look out to see IRT hightail it ahead of the mass of humanity to stop everyone. You guys saved a bunch of people from a dangerous situation. Much kudos and hugs!

Oh and whoever had the bright idea to do said countdown, not cool. People could have really gotten hurt. Grow up.

Oh ACen...

Well, for starters, let me thank you guys - the con goers. This year went off ridiculously well and it would be selfish for IRT to take all the credit. As a member of Guest Escorts I dont really get a chance to interact with the crowds unless I'm "enforcing the rules outside of the smoking section" (aka smoking) and on the nights I was directing traffic, patrolling the lines for Anime Hell and Soap Bubble, or just chillin, you guys were awesome.

KnitChick - I dont know why you would ever be excited to see me. I'm normally one of the grumpiest people on IRT but I seem to have left a good impression somehow... so... yay!...?

Nouseforaname - By Saturday night I'm in full curmudgeon mode. Much like the sentance above this... I'm amazed you dont think im an asshat.

All in all, I cant wait to return next year and meet some more of you guys. Seriously, this year was a blast.
